Our 36-time Hungarian men's football champions were 2-1 up going into the second leg of their Champions League qualifier against FC Noah. Against the Armenian champions we started with Dibusz - Gartenmann, Raemaekers, Szalai - Makreckis, Tóth, Ötvös, Levi, O'Dowda - Joseph, Pesics.
First half
Not even a minute had passed when Aleksandar Pesic's long range shot found its way into the visiting goal (1-0). We didn't have long to rejoice as Noah equalised from their first attack through Hélder Ferreira (1-1). Lenny Joseph then almost took control of a stray ball but the defence made amends. The striker scored from the next opportunity with a header to put us in the lead (2-1). Levi had the next chance, but his shot was well saved by the goalkeeper, and Chancharevich was alert for Joseph's header.
Szalai, voted Fradi player of the month for May, also tried a long-range shot, but the ball just missed the left post. Noah then equalised again, this time Aiás outwitted Dibusz, who found the ball between his legs and into the net (2-2). Sweden's Levi tried again, his shot in the evening bounced off a defender to make it dangerous, Chancharevich was beaten but the ball bounced out for a corner past the right post. In the 32nd minute, Pesic fired a beautiful trick from the right into the far corner for what would have been a beautiful goal, just inches short. In the 39th minute, Dibusz saved a free kick from the visitors. In the second half Levi tried again, but this time he was not precise enough.
Second half
At the break, Levi was replaced by Kristoffer Zachariassen. In the 50th minute, Joseph got a great clearance and was hit by the running goalkeeper, allowing us to take a penalty, which was converted by substitute Kristoffer Zacharissen (3-2). The fourth was close, the onrushing Szalai gave a good cross from the left to Ötvös, whose shot was saved by the goalkeeper. In the 63rd minute Pesics was replaced by Barnabás Varga. Soon after, Dibusz had to save a chance, while on the other side, in a similar situation, Joseph took the ball badly in front of goal and his next big chance was saved by the Armenian goalkeeper. In the 71st minute, Grgic beat his defender and the visitors equalised again (3-3). We could have resoponded almost immediately, but Zachariassen's shot went wide of the goal. A couple of minutes after he came on, Barnabás Varga gave our team the lead again (4-3) after a perfect individual effort. Then we made another substitution, with Joseph being replaced by Habib Maiga. In the second half the visitors had two more big chances, but Dibusz was on the spot. In extra time, Cadu and Barnabás Nagy came on for Makreckis and O'Dowda. We eventually won the return leg 4-3, eliminating the Armenian champions with a 6-4 aggregate score.
Robbie Keane's side are now guaranteed a place in at least the main draw of the Conference League, and will be in contention for a seventh successive European Cup autumn tournament. We continue with the third round of Champions League qualifying against Ludogorets!
