A confident victory in the cup
Ferencvaros, the defending Hungarian Cup champion, defeated the NB III team Bicske 4-1 this time.

In the fourth round of the 2026/27 MOL Hungarian Cup, our defending champion team traveled to face Bicskei TC on their home turf. Balázs Borbély’s team had secured a 7-0 victory on the road against DEAC—a team in the NB III Northeast group—in the third round, and this time they traveled to face Bicske, a team in the Northwest group.

The team from Fejér County is an old acquaintance of ours; in addition to numerous preseason matches, we also faced them in the cup in both 2020 and 2022. We advanced with a 5-0 victory on the former occasion and a 2-0 victory in the latter match.

Balázs Borbély rotated the lineup once again, aiming to give regular starters a rest and provide opportunities to players who see less playing time or are just returning from injury. Accordingly, we started the match with the following lineup:

Á. Varga – O. Nagy, Raemaekers, Zohoré, Cadu – Rommens, Á. Nagy, Bagi – Arzani, Levi, Joseph

On the bench, alongside Zachariassen, Corbu, Yusuf, and the others, were Matús Bero—who had scored a hat trick against DEAC—and Isaac Pappoe.

First Half
By kickoff, the stands were packed to capacity, while across from them, some 400–500 Fradi fans cheered on our team.

And their support paid off, as we took the lead as early as the 5th minute: the home team’s forward, Bence Fodor, made an unfortunate touch on a high ball, leaving goalkeeper Bence Baráth with no chance to make the save (0–1).

In the 11th minute, Ádám Bagi sent in a dangerous low cross following a corner kick, and then in the 16th minute, something happened that had never before occurred in a cup match between these two teams: Patrik Király beautifully curled a free kick into Ádám Varga’s net (1–1).

In the 24th minute, Toon Raemaekers fired a shot from 18 meters that went just over the home team’s goal. In the 28th minute, Jonathan Levi curled a free kick just over the goal as well, and then, after a solo run, Arzani’s shot was saved by the home team’s goalkeeper. In the 40th minute, the home team’s goalkeeper made a save against Joseph—during this stretch, we really pinned BTC back. In the 42nd minute, Cadu failed to connect properly with the ball on a huge scoring opportunity, so the teams ultimately went into halftime tied 1-1.

Second Half
At halftime, Balázs Borbély made a substitution, bringing on Matús Bero for Ádám Bagi, who struck the left post directly off a corner kick in the 50th minute. In the 54th minute, the goalkeeper saved a shot by Lenny, who had broken free from an offside position, and then Levi created a scoring opportunity for himself but curled the ball wide of the goal from 16 meters out.

Then, in the 60th minute, there was no mercy: Jonathan Levi fired a set-up shot into the left side of the home team’s goal (1-2). Two minutes later, Daniel Arzani cut in from the left and also found the left side of the net (1-3)!

Fradi’s overwhelming dominance continued for the remainder of the match; we created plenty more scoring chances, but only one more goal was scored, courtesy of substitute Bamidele Yusuf, so we advanced to the fifth round with a 4-1 victory. The matches in that round will be held in the spring of 2027.

Our team’s next match will be on Sunday, November 1, at 4:00 p.m. against Paksi FC at Groupama Arena in the 12th round of the OTP Bank Liga.
