BEN ROMDHANE'S DOUBLE MEANT THREE POINTS
Our men's football team won 2-0 against DVTK in the 3rd round of the OTP Bank Liga.

Our 35-time champion men's football team visited Miskolc in the 3rd round of the OTP Bank Liga, where they played against DVTK. Our team started with Dibusz - Makreckis, Cissé, Raul Gustavo, Civic - Maiga, Abu Fani, Kady, Ben Romdhane, Traoré - Bassey. The last time we visited the red and whites was in May, when the home side won 2-0, so there was reason to fight back against Vladimir Radenkovic's side, who also had Zétény Varga, our player on loan, in the starting line-up.

First half

We had to wait five minutes for our first shot, after Traoré's rebound Abu Fani missed the target, and Bassey's header from a corner was blocked by the home defence. In the 12th minute, Traoré received a good ball on the right, dribbled in and rolled it back to Kady, but the Brazilian's shot was not dangerous.
Not so the following Abu Fani attempt, which just missed Sentic's goal after a bounce. Then, in the 19th minute, after a clearance from home, Kady found himself a chance and was brought down inside the penalty area, and we received a penalty. Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane got behind the ball and made no mistake, firing into the bottom right corner (0-1).

We continued to dominate the game, but it was difficult to break through the well-concentrated Diósgyőr defence. In the 43rd minute, Bassey's roll was easily saved by the home goalkeeper. In extra time, our goal scorer Ben Romdhane got behind the defence and his close range shot was saved by Sentic with great bravura.

Second half

Ben Romdhane's first chance after the break started on the left and he passed from near the baseline into the middle, but the defenders saved to a corner which did not threaten. In the 50th minute, Maiga shot over from Traoré's cross in the second wave. A minute later we saved a great chance, our former player Gera Dániel had a fine cross from three metres out, but the ball came off the post and the rebound was blocked by Ben Romdhane. At the other end, Kady had a chance but Sentic saved, and then Raul Gustavo's header was saved by the crossbar.

Philippe Rommens replaced Maiga, Kristoffer Zachariassen replaced Kady and Cristian Ramírez replaced Civic. In the 72nd minute, we led a beautiful action on the right, but Bassey's shot was intercepted by the defenders, and Ramírez shot from the corner, but was blocked by the home side. Three minutes from the end Zachariassen was in position, but his shot towards goal was blocked by the DVTK defence.
In the third minute of the seven-minute extra time, Ben Romdhane took advantage of a mistake from the DVTK defence, to bomb the ball under the crossbar from the left corner of the five-meter box (0-2).

Our men's football team won their second match of the OTP Bank Liga 2024/2025 season and now stand on six points after two matches.

Pascan Jansen's side will next face Danish side FC Midtjylland at the Groupama Arena on Tuesday 13 August at 20.00 in the third qualifying round of the Champions League.
