Ferencváros played its first league encounter after the national break Saturday afternoon. We played at the Groupama Arena with a lineup that lacked several key players: Bogdán – Wingo, Blazic, S. Mmaee, Botka – Besic, Vécsei – Zubkov, Tokmac, Mak – Boli.
ZTE started the match but we had the first chances already in the 3rd minute: Vécsei headed after a corner but Demjén stopped this chance with a stunning save. Two minutes later he also repeated the save at Boli’s header. After these initial chances, also Bogdán was kept busy: he first stopped a crossing but then stayed still at the shot in the 7th minute: a ball bounced back to Serafimov who did not miss his chance (0-1). It turned into a nightmare in the 23rd minute when Koszta doubled the ZTE lead (0-2). We changed our play and became more aggressive and managed to close up still before half time: Vécsei took a shot from outside the penalty area and his ball landed in the net unstoppably (1-2).
In the second half there were several penalty situations but we only received one of those. Ryaan Mmaee stood behind the ball and targeted the lower left corner but his shot was too weak not to be saved. The result stayed unchanged, the teams left the pitch with 1-2 for ZTE.
We play next on the 19th against Celtic away.
