After Isaac Pappoe and Raul Gustavo, Fradi have added another player to our squad. Brazilian Kady Borges will continue his career at Fradi.
- "Kady needs no introduction, as we had the chance to see his skills in person not so long ago, when we played against Qarabag in the Champions League qualifiers. He's a very dynamic player who is a constant threat in the final third of the pitch, whether it's through his set-pieces or his own positioning. He is an experienced player at international level who knows what it is like to perform under pressure in a qualifying series. We expect him to settle in as soon as possible and he will be a great help in the attacking third from the very first minute" said FTC Sporting Director Tamás Hajnal about the new signing.
Presentation
Kady Iuri Borges Malinowski was born on 2 May 1996 in Curitiba. He started playing football for the local team Coritiba. He made his senior debut in 2016 and strengthened his hometown team until 2019, although he was loaned out several times. The attacking midfielder signed for Portugal's Estoril in 2019, but after a year in the country he switched to Vilafranquense. There he scored five goals and assisted one goal in 33 games, and his performances caught the attention of Azeri giants Qarabag, who signed him in 2021. Borges had a fantastic 2021/22 season.
With Qarabag, he won the Azeri league and cup, and was top scorer with 12 goals. He will also be remembered by the Fradi fans, as he was part of the 2022/23 Champions League qualifying team that beat the team from Azerbaijan 4-2 on aggregate. Owusu Kwabena, who has since joined Ferencváros, also played for Qarabad at that time.
Kady Borges scored 28-28 goals and assists in 75 games in two years for the Azeri side, but in the winter of 2023 he moved to Russia, to Cristian Ramírez's former club Krasnodar. In the last one and a half years, he has scored seven times in 44 appearances, with four assists.
Interestingly, Borges is of Polish descent through his paternal grandfather. The Brazilian player started the naturalisation process to obtain Polish citizenship in November 2022, having previously stated that he wanted to play for the Polish national team.
