CONFIDENT VICTORY AND QUALIFICATION IN THE CUP
Ferencváros men's football team won 8-0 against Nagyecsed in the 3rd round of the MOL Hungarian Cup.

On Saturday, 16 September, our 34-time men's football champions joined the MOL Hungarian Cup, the third round of which was held for the last 32. Our first opponent was Nagyecsed away. It has been a special match as head coach Dejan Stankovic was on the bench for the first time for our club. The Serbian coach started with Varga Á - Botka, Cissé, Mmaee, Ramírez - Sigér, Zachariassen, Marquinhos - Owusu, Lisztes - Pesics.

First half

We found the net in the first minutes of the match through Pesic, but the flag was waved, then Lisztes was fouled inside the penalty area, but no penalty was awarded. Then our Serbian striker threatened again but was not precise enough. In the 11th minute, after a pass from Zachariassen, Szabolcsi tripped Lisztes and a penalty was awarded. Pesics stepped up and made no mistake (0-1). In the 15th minute, a great individual effort from Krisztián Lisztes gave us our second goal (0-2).

In the 17th minute the home team tried first, but Sarkadi's shot missed Ádám Varga's goal. Five minutes later, after Ramírez's cross, Owusu's attempt was cleared off the post, but the assistant referee signalled offside, as he did at Lisztes' header in the 26th minute. Our side led a series of attacks, but Pesics missed a rebound and Owusu's shot was saved by Szabolcsi.

Then, Lisztes scored for the second time in first-half stoppage time to give Ferencváros a 3-0 lead going into the break.

Second half

After the turnaround, we had to wait two minutes for the first situation, after Owusu's cross Pesics tried but the goalkeeper saved, but moments later he was helpless at Zachariassen's shot (0-4). In the 51st minute, our Norwegian midfielder launched Owusu, who confidently shot the ball past the goalkeeper (0-5).

In the 57th minute, we made two substitutions: Botka and Ramírez left the pitch, Civic and Pászka came on. Moments later, our Bosnian centre-back's cross missed Pesic, but Zachariassen was able to shoot but missed the target. We made two more changes: first Gojak replaced Zachariassen and then Muhamed Besic came on for Marquinhos. Besic made his first appearance for FTC after 217 days (he last played in a league match against Kisvárda on 11 February 2023).

In the 75th minute, Pesics' header hit the post first, and for the rebound Sigér arrived and scored (0-6). Moments later, Szabolcsi made two great saves from Pesics' efforts. In the 77th minute, Muhamed Besic scored with engineering precision from outside the penalty area (0-7). In the second half, the home side made two substitutions, with Sarkadi replacing Szabolcsi in goal and Raffai replacing Gergő Sarkadi. In the minutes of extra time, Gojak even took a shot, but it was blocked. Before the final whistle, Owusu put a ball into the net from another rebound off the goalpost, setting the final score at eight goals (0-8).

With today's victory, Ferencváros men's football team progressed to the 4th round of the MOL Hungarian Cup. The draw will take place on Monday 18 September at 18.45.
