Our defending champion men's football team visited Kecskemét in the 12th round of the championship. Ferencváros started with Dibusz - Botka, Abena, Mmaee, Ramírez - Esiti, Makreckis, Zachariassen - Marquinhos, Traoré - Pesics.
First half
The rain that had been falling for hours before the match had taken its toll, starting the match on a very deep, puddled surface, which made the players' task difficult in many cases. In the 6th minute, Zachariassen received a good ball inside the penalty area from Pesics, but the Norwegian player's ball bounced into the hands of the keeper. Shortly afterwards, Dibusz had to make a great save after Ramírez tried wrongfully to clear from Pálinkás. In the 16th minute, Dibusz had to clear a sharply struck ball and the follow-up was harmless. A few minutes later, at the end of a home counter-attack, Pálinkás fired a shot into the bottom left corner from about 20 metres out, Dibusz had no chance to save the powerful ball, which was accelerating even more on the wet pitch (1-0). The home side continued to impose their will, threatening several times from free kicks, and it was clear that playing in less than ideal conditions suited them better. Our problems increased further in the 32nd minute, when Kecskemét were awarded a penalty after another home cross, after Ramírez had pulled down Szabó. Krisztofer Horváth got behind the ball and made no mistake (2-0). In the 43rd minute, Zachariassen shot from close range but the home goalkeeper saved with bravura, and Mmaee's long-range attempt was no problem either.
Second half
At the break, Stankovic made three substitutions, with Eldar Civic replacing Ramírez, Dávid Sigér replacing Esit and Krisztián Lisztes replacing Traoré. In the 52nd minute, our Bosnian winger was badly fouled, and we were awarded a free kick from a good position, about 25 metres from goal. Lisztes' shot found its way between the posts, but the goalkeeper was untroubled. In the 59th minute we had survived a great Kecskemét, and at the other end Marquinhos raced to the home goal, but his ball to Lisztes was not accurate enough. In the 64th minute we made another substitution, Owusu Kwabena came on for Pesic. Our player was immediately got into position, but the ball was kicked away by the defenders at the last moment and Owusu needed medical attention after the incident. The referee came out to check the incident after the VAR indicated a possible penalty and we were awarded the penalty. Krisztián Lisztes put the ball into the net with elementary power in the 69th minute (2-1). Then, Tokmac Nguen came on for Makreckis for the remaining part of the second half. The video referee again reviewed a possible penalty, but this time to our detriment, but referee Pintér did not see it that way. In the 86th minute, the home team had a free kick from a dangerous angle, but Dibusz was on the spot. The match ended with 10 minutes of extra time. There were two corners at the end, but neither of them posed a serious threat. Finally, Owusu's clearance put Abena in position but he failed to score the equaliser.
All this meant that we suffered our second defeat of the season today.
