After the midweek UEFA Europa League match against Tottenham, our footballers were in for a thriller in the championship as well, as our team visited Paks in the 9th round of the OTP Bank Liga. Pascal Jansen sent our team out in the line-up of Dibusz - Gartenmann, Cissé, Szalai, Ramírez - Abu Fani, Maiga - Zacharassen, Kady, Kehinde - Varga Barnabás.
First half
Two minutes into the game, Paks took the lead with a well-played attack (1-0). Four minutes later, after a corner from Paks, Vécsei made a spectacular move to pull the ball back into the net, but Gartenmann, who was on the goal line, was able to clear. The first serious chance for us came in the 13th minute, when Kehinde received a good ball from Ramírez, but he missed the target from a slightly acute angle.
In the 21st minute, Maiga and Lenzsér clashed at the corner of the home team's penalty area, the referee awarded a free kick, but Kovácsik got down to Kady's flat effort. Shortly afterwards, Barnabás Varga had an excellent start, but the Paks goalkeeper made another save. In the 26th minute we had several chances to take a corner, one of which almost resulted in a goal, but Kovácsik flicked the ball out from under the crossbar. Seven minutes later, Kady tried again, shooting wide of the left post from 25 metres. The attack failed and Böde doubled the home advantage in the 35th minute, heading home Osváth's cross (2-0).
In the 38th minute, Zachariassen received a good ball, but Kovácsik saved again and the replay failed to find the net. Four minutes later Varga nodded in a curved header that was saved by the Paks goalkeeper. In the 43rd minute, Bödé threatened again with a header, but this time Dibusz saved confidently.
Second half
Pascal Jansen made changes at the break, replacing Gartenmann with Makreckis, Maiga with Rommens and Zachariassen with Saldanha. The substitutions brought the momentum, in the 49th minute Saldanha received a good ball and tricked his defender, but slipped at the moment of the shot. Six minutes later, we had a free kick but our Brazilian international's shot was blocked by the line. In the 57th minute, Kehinde was the other leading player alongside Saldanha, and after a nice interplay, our winger's shot was saved by Kovácsik. The many situations eventually turned into goals, and in the 62nd minute we came up with Kady's first goal for Ferencváros (2-1). Four minutes later Kady was in position again, but this time he shot over the goal, and soon afterwards Rommens did the same.
In the 69th minute, the home side broke their block defense, Osváth ran out on the edge and crossed to substitute Barna Tóth, who headed into our net (3-1). Dibusz, swimming in the air, reached the ball but could only push it onto the right post, where it bounced into the goal. A minute later, Civic came on for Szalai, before Ramírez was replaced by Traoré. The changes did not bring the breakthrough and our team suffered a 3-1 defeat.
