Our men's football team started off the new season in a rather unlucky manner. Our first opponent of the 2021/22 season was Kisvárda, the game was played on our home ground, at the Groupama Arena.
We've had plenty of chances to score in the first half, but unfortunately, luck wasn't with us. Our first opportunity was created after a corner, first Zubkov's shot was blocked, but then Tokmac was able to shoot at the goal, but it was cleared away by the opponent's goalkeeper.
Two free-kicks were awarded on our side from similar positions. The first kick was finished by Oleksandr Zubkov, but he missed the target, and we couldn't manage to make a difference with the second either, Boli couldn't reach the pass that was towards him. The scoreline was 0-0 after the first 45 minutes.
Our head coach, Peter Stöger made two changes during the break: Tokmac and Robert Mak were substituted, and Zachariassen and Uzuni stepped on the pitch.
Kisvárda had their moment to shine quickly in the second half, they created a chance that could not be missed and scored the first goal of the game. Then in the 64th minute, they were able to furtherly build their advantage.
This goal definitely revved up our team, we fought even harder! In the 76th minute, a foul was committed on Ryan Mmaee, he was pushed roughly. At first, the referee didn't decide on any reprimand, but then came our first VAR check on a championship game! With VAR the situation got cleared up and we were given the penalty. Ryan Mmaee was the one who delivered it, and did so successfully, scoring for Ferencváros!
This was not enough though, we couldn't score another goal, thus the scoreline remained the same, FTC-Kisvárda, 1-2.
Nagy, Ötvös, and Yusuf all scored as we beat Kisvárda 3-0 at home in the Fizz League.
Ferencvaros won the rescheduled match 1-0 with a penalty kick in a great battle.
Gavriel Kanikovszki and Gruber Zsombor scored in the 2-1 victory over Puskás Akadémia.
