Get back at the final we lost last year! Perhaps that was the motto of Wednesday night's MOL Hungarian Cup final, which saw defending champions Ferencváros and Paksi FC once again face off.
Over the weekend, the two teams played a five-goal, high-turnaround match in Paks, where Lenny Joseph's double and Gábor Szalai's goal gave us a 3-2 win.
Our defender was in the starting line-up again this time, with head coach Robbie Keane making two changes from Saturday's starting eleven. This time Kristoffer Zachariassen and Adama Traoré started on the bench, replaced by Mohammed Abu Fani and Eldar Civic.

1st half
At the end of the 3rd minute, Saldanha showed his skills! Our Brazilian striker broke into the penalty area, spun the Paks defender, Varga headed in his cross from the middle, but he couldn't get the ball on goal, and Hinora had to save from Tóth. Fradi kept the momentum going. In the 9th minute, a superb pass in front of goal found Civic, who fired a sharp shot wide of the bottom left corner from 14 metres.
Paks revived, but Dibusz did not have to make a move on the header and over the goal.
In the 18th minute, a great situation was missed! Tóth broke into the penalty area, played a superb shot at the height of the five-meter box to the empty Varga, who shot after a trick, but Szappanos saved with great bravura. Tóth could not get the rebound into the net. At the other end, Osváth was mixing it up on the left, but his slipped cross was confidently saved by Dibusz.
In the 23rd minute, Saldanha played Varga, who had a chance to break into the goal on his own and from a slightly sharp angle, he missed the target. Our Brazilian striker was very active, and in the 32nd minute he put a pass through the middle instead of a shot, but from Varga the Paks defenders saved well.
Fradi established a slight advantage in the field, Paks did not pose any threat to Dibusz' goal for a long time. Then, in the first minute of first-half stoppage time, Kristóf Papp slipped in a cross from Makreckis, the ball went to Barna Tóth, who turned and fired a 23-metre shot into the bottom right corner.0-1! Despite Ferencváros creating more and more dangerous situations, Paks led 1-0 after half-time.

2nd half
The first ten minutes of the second half were uneventful, although both teams had some promising free kick situations. At one end Ötvös fired a rebound well over, while Szappanos was again on the end of a chance for Ferencváros.
In the 62nd minute, Dibusz made the save of the match after he saved Ötvös' sharp shot from the bottom right corner when he broke into the Ferencváros penalty area. Our goalkeeper was confidently saved Tóth's shot into the middle of the box shortly afterwards.
In the 69th minute, substitute Lenny Joseph fired into the net, but the referee signalled offside and the goal was disallowed. Another substitute, Aleksandar Pesic, tried to score in the 72nd minute, but his shot was saved by Szappanos.
With the substitutions, Robbie Keane tried to upgrade the attacking section. We were constantly attacking the Paks goal, with crosses coming in from the right and left, but the final solutions were always fouled or cleared by the Paks defenders. In the 85th minute, Pesics again had a clear header from Csirkovics' cross, but the ball was saved by Szappanos. In the 91st minute, Paks substitute Balázs Balogh almost decided the final, but his 27-metre shot bounced off the post.
We went on the offensive in the dying minutes and the constant pressure paid off in the 93rd minute. Tóth's corner from the right was met by Joseph, who bounced the ball back and forth in the middle and fired into the net from 5. 1-1!
With no decision in normal time, the game went into double 15 minutes extra time.

Extra time - 1st half
The first big chance for Fradi, who kept the momentum, came from Csirkovics, who shot wide of the target after a good interplay with Pesic. On the Paks side, Martin Ádám's clearance was shot by Dániel Böde past the bottom left corner.
In the 96th minute, Zachariassen's goal was greeted with a huge cheer, but after VAR, the referee disallowed the goal for an offside. Nevertheless, Fradi continued to dominate the first 15 minutes of extra time.
Extra time - 2nd half
Many fouls broke up the game on both sides. In the 113th minute, Ádám's spin move was a dangerous one, but the ball into the middle was saved by Dibusz. Fradi had several promising corners, from one of which Traroé shot the rebound into the stands, and no further goals were scored, and penalties followed.

Penalty shootout
Pesic missed the first shot, while Windecker converted his penalty.(0-1) Zachariassen, who also scored, made no mistake (1-1), nor did Ádám (1-2). In the third set-piece, Joseph's shot, who played superbly and scored the equalizer, but his shot this time was saved by Szappanos, and Paks midfielder Balogh also made a mistake, and Dibusz saved with bravura.
Raul Gustavo scored his penalty very confidently (2-2), as did Gyurkits (2-3). For Fradi, Cissé made no mistake (3-3), but unfortunately neither did Vécsei (3-4), and Paks won the MOL Hungarian Cup.
