DRAW AT HOME, WE CONTINUE IN THE EUROPA LEAGUE
We took the lead by Cissé but Midtjylland equalised. We continue in the Europa League play-offs.

Our 35-time Hungarian men's football champions were 2-0 down ahead of the second leg of their Champions League qualifier against Danish Midtjylland. The task was far from easy, but our Norwegian midfielder Kristoffer Zachariassen and our head coach Pascal Jansen said at the pre-match press conference that they could pull off a turnaround in this stadium with such a supportive crowd behind them. With this in mind, our head coach sent out a starting line-up of Dibusz - Makreckis, Cissé, Raul Gustavo, Ramírez - Rommens, Abu Fani - Ben Romdhane, Zachariassen, Traoré - Pesic.

Before the match, the President of Ferencváros Torna Club, Gábor Kubatov, congratulated Adama Traoré, who was voted the best Fradi footballer of July by our fans.

First half

Already during the warm-up of our goalkeepers, you could hear that nothing was going to depend on the Ferencváros fans, as expected, they welcomed our players with a huge cheer. The atmosphere didn't let up even from the opening whistle, with the crowd of nearly 20,000 in the 10-year-old Groupama Arena creating a real buzz, which seemed to have fired up our team even more, who didn't concede much in the first few minutes.

Ferencváros' first chance came only in the 4th minute, but Cissé's header missed Ólafsson's goal. In the 9th minute, Abu Fani was fouled and a free kick was taken from a dangerous position, but Rommens' attempt was cleared off the line.

We mobilised a huge force, with Ben Romdhane and Traoré constantly toiling on either side of the attacking third, Makreckis and Ramírez were always near the opponents' penalty area, while Zachariassen, Abu Fani and Rommens tried to put their teammates in better and better positions. In the 16th minute, our Israeli midfielder shot, Ólafsson got the ball out, but Pesics could not get to the rebound. In the 17th minute, a great effort was converted into a goal: Cissé's header was saved by the goalkeeper, but the French defender ruthlessly slammed the rebound into the net (1-0)! Pesic and the rest of the team immediately signaled to the Fradi camp that they needed to keep going, they needed the constant encouragement, they needed the extra energy!

We didn't let up even after the first half of the first half, we were constantly in the Midtjylland penalty area, trying to play centering, crossing and long range shots, while the Danish team was about to make a substitution, and in the 30th minute Simsir came on for Askildsen, who was yellow carded. Five minutes later, our opponents had their first dangerous chance, but Sorensen's cross was blocked by Makreckis, Traoré headed in a corner from the short side and Osorio's rebounded attempt was saved by Dibusz. Two minutes before the end of the half, Bassey replaced Pesic. At the very end of the three minutes of added time, Midtjylland had a great chance after an individual mistake, the ball had already gone past Dibusz, but Cissé sacrificed himself to slide the ball just wide of the goal line and we went into the break with a one-goal lead.

Second half

Pascal Jansen made one change at the break, replacing Cristian Ramírez with Endre Botka.

Immediately after the turnaround, we had two big chances in the first minute, but Ólafsson saved both times with brilliance. Then in the 50th minute came the cold shower: Midtjylland equalised through Sorensen (1-1), so that two more Fradi goals would have been needed to force extra time. We were a bit disturbed by the unexpected goal, we played with more inaccuracies and turnovers, but we quickly shook ourselves and took the initiative again. In the 58th minute, Cissé fired a great ball back to the second wave of incomers towards goal, but Ólafsson made a great save.

The next ten minutes saw little consistent play on the pitch, with one team breaking the rhythm and the other the other. We made another change in the 75th minute, with Kady replacing the struggling Zachariassen. Turning for the break, Kady received a great ball but couldn't handle it well, while the visitors' counter-attack was fumbled by Osorio in a set-piece on the far side. In the last eight minutes, Pascal Jansen sent on Szevikjan and Gruber to replace our two defenders Makreckis and Cissé, in the hope of scoring another goal. In the 85th minute, Ben Romdhane rolled the ball towards goal from the left corner of the penalty area, but Ólafsson had no problem. Two minutes before the end of normal time, Kady fired in a left-footed shot from the centre of the box, which the Danish goalkeeper bravely punched over the goal.

The match ended in a 1-1 draw against Midtjylland and our men's football team exited the Champions League qualifying round with a 3-1 aggregate score. We will continue in the UEFA Europa League playoff round, where we will play the winner of the Banja Luka-Klasvík match.
