Our defending Hungarian championship men's football team hosted ZTE FC at the Groupama Arena. In the 31st round of the OTP Bank League, Stanislav Cherchesov voted for the starting line-up of Dibusz - Botka, S. Mmaee, Civic - Auzqui, Loncar, Esiti, Vécsei, Pászka - Tokmac, Boli. As in the match against Újpest, our team took to the pitch in their new golden kits.
First half
The away team started the game, but in the third minute Auzqui's header from Boli's cross was off target. Seconds later, first Tokmac's soft pass was cut out by the visiting defenders, then Esiti tried to shoot from outside the box but shot well over. In the sixth minute, Auzqui's shot bounced off the legs of the visiting defenders and was slowed down enough to give Demjén no trouble.
Two minutes later, Tokmac tried a 20-metre effort, which Demjén pushed over greatly. Vécsei, who had also scored in the derby against Újpest, slid a corner into the net (1-0). In the 12th minute, Zalaegerszeg tried a long-range attempt, but Huszti missed Dibusz's goal. After the ZTE's moments, Loncar started on the right and flicked the ball over the outgoing goalkeeper, but his shot only hit the crossbar.
In the 20th minute, Pászka ran ahead on the left, Demjén was brought down inside the penalty area and the referee awarded a penalty. Tokmac stepped up and confidently shot into the bottom right corner (2-0). Six minutes later, Kálnoki Kis fouled Boli, giving us a free kick from a good position. Civic crossed towards the long side where Botka arrived and headed into the net (3-0). In the 33rd minute, Loncar's pass was cut off the leg of a Zalaegerszeg defender, Auzqui took the ball and shot, but only hit the side netting.
Ten minutes before the end of the first half, Meshack headed towards the goal and shot inside the penalty area, but it was on target. In the 37th minute, Samy Mmaee's cross was taken by Pászka, who chested the ball down to Tokmac, who fired straight away, but Demjén saved the Norwegian's attempt.
There were no more goals and we went into the break with a 3-0 lead.
Second half
ZTE made a substitution at half time: Bojan Sankovic was replaced by Emil Halilovic.
In the 53rd minute, the visitors had a free kick from a dangerous position and Tajti scored (3-1). In the 55th minute, two substitutions were made: Marin and Zubkov came on instead of Loncar and Auzqui. In the 65th minute, after Tajti's initiative, Samy Mmaee was fouled by Zsóri inside the penalty area, the referee awarded another penalty and Zsóri scored (3-2).
In the 69th minute we made another change: Esiti was replaced by Muhamed Besic, who scored last against Paks. Three minutes later, Tokmac was left on the ground but indicated that he would be okay to continue. Three minutes later, Tokmac received a great ball and prepared it for Boli, who shot flat into the goal (4-2). We made two changes for the final minutes: Tokmac was replaced by Sigér and Boli by Redzic. Three minutes before the end of normal time, Zsóri received a great ball and shot past Dibusz into the goal (4-3). In the last minutes of extra time we had a chance, but Zubkov's header was saved by Demjén. With just half a minute to go, Marin's goal made the score 5-3 and put an end to a memorable and goal-rich match.
Our record-breaking men's football team with six Hungarian players in the team kept the three points at home in a very goal-filled match. Stanislav Cherchesov's side will next host MTK on Saturday 7 May in their final home game of the year, where they will celebrate their 33rd league title in history with the fans.
