Ferencváros are champions for the 36th time!
With goals from Szalai and Joseph, we won 2-1 in Győr and won our seventh championship title in a row!

For the seasons that marked Ferencváros' championship title, we have to go all the way back to 2004, when the last round decided who would win the gold medal. More than 21 years ago, in the last round of the then top flight, Fradi beat Debrecen at home and, with Újpest drawing only with MTK, FTC won their 28th league title in history.

This was the situation now ahead of the 33rd round of the OTP Bank Liga 2024/25 season. In addition to Fradi, this time Puskás Akadémia were also in the running for the gold.

While the home side were guests of ETO FC Győr, who were still unbeaten in the spring, the Felcsút side hosted DVTK on Saturday evening at 20.00. The formula was simple: if FTC scored at least one point in Győr, they would win their seventh league title in a row and 36th overall.

Naby Keita and Habib Maiga returned to the starting line-up after minor injuries, and Cristian Ramírez was also included in the starting eleven after the 3-0 home win over Fehérvár.

From a Ferencváros point of view, we celebrated in the first seconds of the match, as our captain Dénes Dibusz played his 400th game for the club.

First half

In the first few minutes the ball was mostly in the field, then in the 9th minute Bumba shot from 24 metres out and Dibusz made a great save. From the corner, Bánáti had a chance but broke the ball and missed.

For Győr, both wing-backs tried to score within a minute. In the 19th minute, Bíró shot well over from the right wing, then the left-back Stefulj's flat shot was confidently saved by Dibusz.

Meanwhile, Puskás Akadémia had taken the lead, but Fradi could still claim the title.

Although we had one or two good moves from Tóth and Joseph, Fradi could not create any real chances in the first half hour, while ETO threatened more and more from the wings.

In the 35th minute, Keita found the outrushing Pesic with a brilliant flat pass, whose shot was cleared by the defenders, but Petras still had to dive as the ball was heading for the bottom right corner. From the corner, Szalai, who has been playing well in recent weeks and has been called up to the Hungarian national team, headed just wide.

Joseph was inches wide of the goal in the 42nd minute. The French striker fired a left-footed shot from an acute angle just wide of the bottom left corner. Joseph recovered and a minute later he shot again, this time from midfield, but Petras saved. For us, the match in Felcsút took a favourable turn. DVTK, playing with a man down, equalised.

The extra time of the first half had barely begun, when Győr scored again, and Fradi scored! Tóth made a great run down the right, crossed to the middle where Szalai came in and slotted the ball into the goal with his right foot, just as Petras was able to get in. 0-1! It was our defender's fourth goal of the spring.

After the goal, it was only time for the  restart, and after one half Ferencváros led 1-0 and were on the doorstep of the title.

Second half

The second period started with a shot from substitute Ouro, which was confidently saved by Dibusz. And then Diósgyőr helped us to the title once again after they took the lead in Felcsút. As FTC doubled the lead next! In the 54th minute, Keita got a great rebound inside the penalty area, shot from five yards out, Petras made a great save, but the rebound was finished from close range by Joseph. 0-2!

Two minutes later, our French striker could have scored another goal, but his lift was saved by the Győr goalkeeper.

The second goal calmed Fradi and held Győr. There was nothing of note until the 72nd minute, when Ouro's 22-metre shot was saved brilliantly by Dibusz.

In the 81st minute, Krpic scored from a home corner (1-2!), but with DVTK leading 3-2 at Felcsút (eventually winning 4-3), Fradi still had the title in their hands. Robbie Keane tried to update his team with substitutions.

There were no more big situations in the second half, and Ferencváros won 2-1 in Győr to win their seventh league title in a row and 36th overall!
