Hungarian record champion Ferencváros signs the top scorer candidate of the Czech league, the 23-year old Nigerian Fortune Bassey.
Introduction
Fortune Bassey was born October 6th, 1998 in Nigeria. At 20, in 2018, he left his mother country and signed for the reserve team of Bohemians Prague. He spent half a year in the Czech third league, then joined Olympia Radoton. He scored here 24 times in 36 matches.
With his outstanding performance he raised the attention around him and could change levels at the end of the season, he signed for Usti nad Labem. In the second league and only in one season, he finished with 7 goals and 5 assists in 30 games. Then, he transferred to Budejovice, this time to the first division.
After half a season, he was loaned out to Vlasim where he scored five times in 15 games. After the expiration of his loan contract, he returned to Budejovice, where he took a great start in season 2021/22. In only four rounds, he had two goals, then he scored also against Viktoria Plzen, Pardubice, Boleslav, Bohemians, a double against Slovacko, then finally against Olomouc. With these 9 goals, he stands currently second in the top scorer ranking of the Czech league.
The 35-time champion Ferencváros won 2-1 against Nyíregyháza in the semi-final of the MOL Hungarian Cup.
