After the national team break, our thirty-five-time champion men's football team hosted Fehérvár in the 10th round of the OTP Bank Liga. Before the match, FTC President Gábor Kubatov presented the HSA Player of the Month award to September's best player, Matheus Saldanha.
In the encounter Pascal Jansen voted for the starting line-up of Dibusz - Makreckis, Cissé, Gartenmann, Civic - Maiga, Rommens - Traoré, Kady, Kehinde - Saldanha.
First half
The opening kick was taken by the visitors, but in the second minute the Groupama Arena crowd was startled when Habib Maiga fell to the ground, but fortunately there were no injuries and our midfielder was able to continue the game. The visitors had the first chance, Mátyás Kovács' effort was confidently saved by Dibusz. In the 19th minute, Kady's cross looked good, Kehinde moved into the empty area, but Dala came out of his goal well and collected the ball. Three minutes later, another attack came from our Brazilian international, who passed to Traoré, our Malian winger trickled his way inside the penalty area, his shot was saved by Dala.
In the 23rd minute we took the lead, Kady's pass was miscued by Serafimov and the ball went to Saldanha, who shot into the net for Fehérvár (1-0). Six minutes later, Dibusz had to stretch his legs as Gradisar headed in an away cross, but our goalkeeper poked the ball from under the crossbar. In the 32nd minute, Kady showed a beautiful trick, his defenders could only stop him with a foul, but Rommens bombed over the goal from the free kick. In the 40th minute, Fehérvár had a free kick from just the penalty area, Csongvai's flat shot was saved by Dibusz. There was an attempt in the last minute of normal time of the half, but Maiga could not find the net either.
Second half
We made one change at the break, with Abu Fani replacing Maiga. In the 49th minute, Kehinde won a ball in the attacking third and the ball went to Traoré, who shot from close range, but Dala saved with his foot. The rebound was headed into the net by Saldanha, but the visitors' keeper was alert again. In the 54th minute, Kehinde fought out a penalty, shooting from a Traoré cross, but the ball got stuck in Serafimov's hands. The penalty was taken by Kady, who confidently curled the ball into the bottom right corner to double the lead (2-0). In the 62nd minute, Kehinde received a red card, who tripped Simut and was sent off by the referee. Five minutes later Pascal Jansen made a substitution, Saldanha was replaced by Barnabas Varga and Kady came on for Misidjan. Then, Zachariassen came on in the 73rd minute, Traoré left the pitch.
In the second half, the visitors, playing with the man advantage, dictated the tempo but their attacks were not successful. Our team won 2-0 and are back on top of the league table. Our footballers will next face OGC Nice in the Europa League on Thursday 24 October.
