Ferencvaros played again tonight after 15 years in the Group Stage of the UEFA Europa League. The first opponent was Espanyol putting our team in a great encounter from start.
Despite the opponent we did not play in secondary role, what’s more we were more initiative and dangerous from start. Isael’s contribution resulted in a Fradi goal in the 11th minute and there have been several other chances when ours could even have extended their lead.
In the second half Espanyol came up and put much higher pressure on our team. Isael had an opportunity from a free kick when everyone was expecting a crossing but instead he shot directly: his shot came back from the crossbar. Then, the home team’s dominance resulted in an equalizer, deservedly. Although in the remaining part of the game Espanyol created sheer dominance, they could not score again.
Ferencvaros therefore achieved a great 1-1 draw away against the strongest opponent of the group.
