Last Tuesday Ferencváros won 2-0 over Zalgiris Vilnius in Budapest. Today, Peter Stöger’s team travelled for the second leg on Monday and prepared for a match on artificial turf. This match has been the debut of the young Hungarian talented Dominik Csontos but also the first time starting for Kristoffer Zachariassen.
The match flew in a calm pace with some chances on both ends. Soon before half time, Ryan Mmaee took the lead for Fradi who in the second half first extended the lead from a counter attack, then was very close to actually scoring a hat trick. In extra time the enthusiastic local supporters could celebrate a home goal from a corner situation, then, one minute later, Robert Mak finished the match with a nice individual attack and goal.
With this result, Ferencváros advanced to the next round with a 5-1 aggregate result. In the third qualification round of Champions League, Ferencváros meets Slavia Praha, first in Budapest on August 4th. This is then the third year in a row when Ferencváros will play in the group stage of one of the European Cup series.
