IN THE CUP FINAL
The 35-time champion Ferencváros won 2-1 against Nyíregyháza in the semi-final of the MOL Hungarian Cup.

In the MOL Hungarian Cup semi-final against Nyíregyháza played in Balmazújváros, our professional staff voted for the starting eleven of Varga Á. - Botka, Abena, Cissé, Civic - Abu Fani, Maiga, Zachariassen - Traoré, Varga B., Marquinhos. Our head coach, Dejan Stankovic, who was suspended during the match in Debrecen, followed the action from the stands, as he did against DVTK in the previous round. The bench was temporarily occupied by Nenad Szakics and Leandro de Almeida.

First half

The home team started the match at the whistle of referee Bogár. Our team, who had celebrated their league title last weekend and came out in their classic green and white kit, tried to take the initiative from the start. The first big scoring chance came in the fifth minute from Barnabás Varga. Our attacker's powerful shot was saved by Fejér with a great move. Nyíregyháza first threatened our goal in the 15th minute: Kovácsréti's attempt was saved by Ádám Varga. Unfortunately, Kristoffer Zachariassen was injured after a collision and could not continue the game, Makreckis came on the pitch in his place. In the 23rd minute, our team was again in position: the recently substituted Makreckis moved to the right wing, and after his cross, Marquinhos rose highest, but his header went wide of the goal. Three minutes later, Ádám Varga made a great save for a shot by Kovácsréti. In the 36th minute, Gresó shot wide. Marquinhos received a yellow card then in the 43rd minute. After 45 minutes of play, there were chances on both sides, but neither side managed to find the net and the teams went into the break with a 0-0 draw.

Second half

Our team made a substitution at half-time, with Botka replaced by Loncar. The first chance to score in the second half came from Traoré, but our winger's shot missed the target. In the 51st minute, the home team got into a great position, but Gresó's shot was well saved by Ádám Varga. The home team then threatened from a corner, but our goalkeeper pushed the ball out from the bar. In the 57th minute our team received a penalty after a foul against Varga. The penalty was taken by the victim, but Fejér managed to save the ball to the right. Abu Fani shot at Fejér's goal from a corner, but the home goalkeeper saved our midfielder's shot. In the 62nd minute, Beke's effort was saved by Ádám Varga. Our missed penalty took revenge: in the 68th minute the home team took the lead. Kovácsréti stepped out of the defenders and shot into the bottom left corner (1-0). Our team then tried to double their efforts to break through the home defense line. Our professional staff tried to freshen up the attacking play with substitutions, with Sevikjan and Kodro coming on the pitch, followed by Ramírez... In the 78th minute, the latter was in a great position, but his shot was saved by the home goalkeeper. Finally, in the 85th minute, Varga made a save for Cisse, who scored the equalizer (1-1)!

We didn't have to wait long to even take the lead, when Sevikjan scored from the left, just outside the penalty area, and the result was turned (1-2)! Kodro then had a chance but failed to score our third goal. On the other side, Ákos Sigér tried to equalize in the minutes of extra time, but he couldn't find our net, and as a last event Varga had to save Novák's header.

With all these last minute turning and actions, after two years, Ferencváros qualified again for the MOL Hungarian Cup final that will be played at the Puskas Arena.
