ISRAELI CHAMPION PLAYER SIGNED
Two-time Israeli champion and one-time Israeli Cup winner Gavriel Kanikovsky has signed for Ferencváros.

Our defending Hungarian championship-winning men's football team has further strengthened its squad, as it became official on Wednesday 23 July that 16-time Israeli international, two-time Israeli champion and one-time Israeli Cup winner Gavriel Kanikovszki will continue his career at Ferencvárosi Torna Club.

Gavriel Kanikovsky was born on 24 August 1997 in Ra'anana, just 21 km from Tel Aviv. The midfielder, still only 27, was brought up in the academy of Maccabi Tel Aviv, and went through the club's youth system. In 2016 he was loaned to Petah Tikva, where he spent one season, during which time he played 2,568 minutes in 37 matches, scoring 4 goals and 2 assists. He scored his first goal in a 2-0 win against Ahi Nazareth on 30 December 2016.

He was loaned to Hapoel Acre for the following season, scoring 6 goals in 34 appearances (2949 minutes), with 5 assists to his name. After the season, although he returned to Maccabi, he was bought by Hapoel Acre and then signed by Maccabi Netanya. He played 102 games for Netanya, scoring 16 goals and 19 assists, and played a total of 8551 minutes.

In August 2021, he was repurchased by his boyhood club Maccabi Tel Aviv, where he played 188 matches in four seasons. He was also a key man under Robbie Keane, winning the Israeli league title with him. A year later, Maccabi defended their league title and also reached the top of the cup, making it a double in his final season with his boyhood club.
