The squad of our 36-time Hungarian champions men's football team continues to take shape. After the title defence, 29-year-old Swedish right winger Jonathan Levi joins the team.
Hungarian football fans hardly need any introduction to the player, who was born on 23 January 1996 in Glumslöv, Sweden. Levi started playing football for the local team's youth team, before moving on to Eskilsminne and Helsingsborg. The player, who can play on either wing of the attacking third or in the middle, also spent time with Östers and Landskrona before moving to Norwegian side Rosenborg in 2017.
Our new signing has enjoyed his greatest success in Norway, winning the league title in 2017 and 2018, while in his second year he won the Norwegian Cup and Norwegian Super Cup with Rosenborg. Levi returned to Sweden in the winter of 2020, when he joined Norrköping. Almost three years later, he made his home in Hungary, joining rivals Puskás Akadémia. He played 83 games for Felcsút, scoring 13 goals and 15 assists.
Levi made his European Cup debut in the 2017/18 season, featuring in two UEFA Europa League group games for Rosenborg, before making five appearances in the same series the following season. He also made his Swedish national team debut in 2019, playing 80 minutes in a pre-season game against Iceland.
- We know Jonathan well, as he has been playing in Hungary for two and a half years now, and we have had the opportunity to experience his skills first hand. We have always played big games against Puskás Akadémia, and that is also thanks to him. He is a player who can play in different systems and in different positions. He is an intelligent, creative player, with good long-range shots, with solutions in the final third that we think will help our attacking game a lot," said FTC sporting director Tamás Hajnal.
After 2022, Balázs Borbély will once again join Ferencvaros, potentially opening a new chapter for our club.
The head coach of the FTC men’s football team is leaving. Robbie Keane has decided to leave the club.
