Ferencváros expected to play against Puskás Akadémia from the top of the table in the final match of the 19th round of the OTP Bank Liga.
The Brazilian midfielder Júlio Romao, who was signed this week, was given the chance in the starting line-up by our head coach Robbie Keane. He was joined in the starting line-up by Ádám Varga - Cebrail Makreckis, Ibrahim Cissé, Stefan Gartenmann, Eldar Civic - Alex Tóth - Adama Traoré, Mohammed Abu Fani, Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane - Matheus Saldanha.
First half
In the first minutes we had a slight home field advantage, with our defence having to intervene at the last minute on several occasions. Then in the 10th minute Abu Fani flashed a 20-metre right-footed shot just wide of the bottom left corner.
In the 22nd minute, Puskás had a chance to counter-attack from a Ferencváros turnover, Soisalo's cross was not well saved by Colley, but the rebound fell to Nagy in the middle, who shot wide of the bottom left. In reply, Saldanha curled the ball over the top of the net two minutes later.
In the 30th minute, Colley broke dangerously to the five-yard line, but Gartenmann and Varga bursting out of his goal stopped the home Gambian striker at the last moment. In the 35th minute, however, the goalkeeper was helpless as Zsolt Nagy headed Levi's left-wing cross into the bottom right corner from eight meters out. 1-0!
Varga needed all his skills in the 37th minute, when he pushed Favorov's 20-metre shot over the crossbar.
We took control in the second half and established a significant field advantage. At the end of one minute of extra time, Traoré handled a masterful pass from Abu Fani at the penalty spot, but Pécsi saved with great skills. The young Puskás goalkeeper pushed the ball away from Tóth following the corner, and the home side went to the break with a 1-0 lead.
Second half
From the first minute of the second half, we fired up ourselves and went for an equalizer. Tóth kept the ball well, then passed to Abu Fani, who played it to Saldanha, and our Brazilian striker pushed the ball to the top bar, the rebound was cleared by the home defenders. Saldanha came close to scoring again in the 52nd minute, but his shot bouncing up in front of goal was cleared off the goal line by Pécsi.
And again Pécsi... In the 60th minute, the young PAFC goalkeeper saved Traoré's attempt from the bottom left corner greatly, Abu Fani was already on offsite when he finished the attack. In the following minutes, Puskas also had some great chances. The biggest was to Colley, the goalscorer, who fired a bouncing ball just over the goal in the 61st minute.
But then it was Fradi's moment. We practically drove the home team in front of their goal. First Pesics made a mistake from close range, then Cissé headed just over the goal. In the 77th minute, Joseph also tried a header, but Pécsi also cleared it from under the crossbar. Kehinde was involved towards the end. In the minutes of extra time, Saldanha was in position again, but the ball bounced off the keeper and the final score remained 1-0.
Our team will next host Viktoria Plzen in the first leg of the UEFA Europa League play-off on Thursday 16 February.
