Ferencváros played in Paks today in the 8th round of the league. This match has been highly eventful on both ends. The Fradi players took a spirited start with attacks led by Uzuni and Mmaee and even a goal from Tokmac in the 3rd minute that was ruled out due to offside. Not long after this, the home team also scored a goal which with the help of VAR was just as well annulled due to an offside situation after a corner shot. With two goals in but the result staying 0-0, the supporters could wonder if they will see the result actually changing before half time. It did change.. In the 45+6th minute a home defender hit the leg of Ryan Mmaee and after checking the situation with the video referee system, our team received a penalty that Ryan did not miss the opportunity (0-1). After the turn, we were mostly in front of Paks’ goal but the home team also equalized and had some other bigger chances, especially towards the end of the game, after they lost one of their players due to a red card. In the 65th minute we were in the lead again when Ryan beat his defender and scored from the penalty area. Finally, in the 74th minute we created the end result when Laidouni stood behind the ball for a free kick and he launched a rocket that found its way into the net through the defender wall.
With today’s win, we reached the top of the league for the first time in the season. The next match is organized after the national team break, we host ZTE at the Groupama Arena.
