Painful defeat in EL
Ferencváros suffered a painful 3-2 defeat from Celtic in Budapest.

Today was the last chance for our team to reach the third position in its Europa League group, a position that would have meant going forward to the spring in the Conference League. We prepared for a different game than in the first match against Celtic, we wanted to play offensively and create several chances. The away team then shocked us right after kick off when Kyogo Furuhashi received a ball from Abada and took advantage of the temporary miss from our defense. We managed to respond relatively quickly: Zubkov’s crossing changed direction on a defender inside the Celtic box and the ball landed in the net. We equalized in the 11th minute. It seemed after the goal that we can take the match under our control but from a counter attack Celtic scored again in the 23rd minute.

It is very hard to always run after the result, especially that the Hoops even extended their lead in the 58th minute. Head coach Stöger sent several substitutes in but until the 86th minute it seemed we will leave the pitch with the same result. Then, the always-on-fire Uzuni fired a curved shot from 17 and even Joe Haart was unable to move – we came up to 2-3. In the remaining minutes we pushed for an equializer but we did not get further than a handful of more attacks and shots. The result turned out to be 2-3 for Celtic tonight. Not a match to be ashamed of but overall a painful defeat.
