PESIC'S GOAL GAVE US THE LEAD, DRAW AGAINST GENK
Ferencváros played out a 1-1 draw with Genk in the 4th round of the Conference League group stage.

Our 34-time Hungarian men's football champions hosted Genk in the 4th round of the UEFA Europa Conference League group stage. Prior to the match, our team was in second place in the quartet, after beating Cukaricki 3-1 at home in the first round, then drawing 2-2 at the home of Fiorentina and drawing 0-0 away to Genk. In a match of crucial importance for progression, head coach Dejan Stankovic fielded a starting line-up of Dibusz - Makreckis, Mmaee, Cissé, Civic - Sigér, Abu Fani - Marquinhos, Zachariassen, Traoré - Pesic.

First half

We took the first kick and had more possession in the first minutes, but the first big chance came for the visitors: former Ferencvaros player Paintsil started on the right wing and shot from an acute angle towards the goal, but Dibusz saved. We had to wait until the ninth minute for our first shot on goal, when Marquinhos' long-range shot was pushed out for a corner by Vandevoordt. Shortly afterwards, Abu Fani tried a good all-round play, but his ball-bound shot was off target.

In the 20th minute, Zeqiri was in position but the goalkeeper was again on target. Shortly afterwards Paintsil headed wide of the target. In the 27th minute, Pesic won a ball on the right flank and passed into the middle, the ball bounced to Abu Fani, but our Israeli legionnaire broke the ball and it fell into Vandevoordt's lap. Five minutes later, Traoré dribbled in from the right and his shot bounced off the post. In the 32nd minute, our opponents made a forced substitution, with team captain Heynen replaced by Galarza due to injury.

Six minutes before half-time, Cissé broke forward and set up Makreckis, who crossed for Marquinhos in midfield. Our Brazilian striker found the ball perfectly and his shot was cleared from under the top bar by the opposing netminder. In the 43rd minute, Marquinhos had just set up Pesic, but our striker was cleared by the Genk defenders. Two minutes later, Dibusz had to make a great save, as El Khanouss' free-kick was pushed away from the top left corner.

Second half

We didn't have to wait long after the break for our goal: first Sigér's shot missed the target, but in the 47th minute we scored, Abu Fani's long range shot bounced off Vandevoordt and right in front of Pesics, who slotted the ball into the top left corner (1-0). Three minutes later, the Tunisian international threatened, but his shot was saved, if not confidently, by the visiting goalkeeper.

In the 60th minute, we were temporarily reduced to a man-down as Samy Mmaee was injured and was later replaced by Aaneba. Two minutes later, our opponents equalised, Galarza's shot was saved by Dibusz, but Munoz made no mistake on the rebound (1-1). In the 69th minute, Traoré headed the ball into the middle of the box and passed it to Abu Fani, who shot from 17 metres over the goal. Shortly afterwards, Traoré's effort was saved by Vandevoordt and Ben Romdhane's shot crashed past the left post.

Dejan Stankovic made three substitutions in the 78th minute, with Lisztes replacing Pesic, Esiti replacing Sigert and Botka replacing Traoré. Our team attacked until the last minute, and in the 90th minute Makreckis' shot was cleared by Vandevoordt from the bottom left corner.

In the end, the result remained the same and the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
