RAMÍREZ HAS RETURNED HOME
Former favourite footballer, Cristian Ramírez has signed and will continue his career in Ferencváros!

The Ferencváros Torna Club men's football team and Cristian Ramírez, who previously served the club between 2015 and 2017, reached an agreement on Thursday, so the Ecuadorian international fullback will continue his career as a player of the Hungarian champion team.

Introduction

Ramírez was born on 12 August 1994 in Santo Domingo, Ecuador. He started playing football in Brasilia U20, later playing for Independiente in the youth team and then for the senior team.

He moved to Europe in January 2013 after being signed by German club Fortuna Düsseldorf. He made his debut for Ecuador's senior national team in 2013 and has made 21 appearances for the club to date. He was initially hampered by injury in Düsseldorf, but later made 16 appearances in the German second division before joining Nuremberg, also in the second division, on loan in the summer of 2014. There he played 7 league games in the autumn of the 2014/2015 season and then started the spring season as a player of Ferencváros.

Cristian Ramírez made his FTC debut on 1 March 2013, at home to Dunaújváros. He scored his first goal in only his second match, when he netted for Csákvár in the last eight of the Hungarian Cup. At the end of the first half of the season, he celebrated a Hungarian Cup victory with the team.

In the following season, 2015/2016, he was a key man for Fradi, and won both the domestic cup and the championship, and outplayed their opponents by a large margin. Ramírez scored four times in 38 games and also provided 6 assists, and was a key member of the team. He stayed for another six months before leaving in January 2017 to join FK Krasnodar in the Russian top flight. In his first period at Ferencváros, he played 81 games, scored 6 goals, won one league title, two Super Cups and three Hungarian Cup titles.

Ramírez has spent the last few years in Russia, making 187 appearances for Krasnodar, and played six UEFA Champions League group stage matches in autumn 2020 (including a goal against Rennes), as well as making 17 appearances in the UEFA Europa League main draw and knockout stages in three other seasons. At international level, he has gained experience against the likes of Chelsea of England, Sevilla and Valencia of Spain and Bayer Leverkusen from Germany. Ramírez has visited our team several times in the meantime, but he has also said that he considers Budapest his home, all the more so because his wife, the mother of his three children, is Hungarian.

- My wife is Hungarian, and although I have been playing football in Krasnodar for years and we live here, we go home to the Hungarian capital whenever we can. After the end of my career, we imagine our future there," Cristian Ramírez told National Sport in April this year.

So Cristian Ramírez is now "back home" and will be back in the Ferencváros team from the 2023/2024 season.
