RYAN MMAEE-DOUBLE BUT DRAW IN FEHÉRVÁR
Ryan Mmaee scored from a penalty and a fantastic shot.

Only three league games remained in 2022 for our defending champions and UEFA Europa League round of 16 qualifiers. The first one was a thriller away against MOL Fehérvár on Sunday night. Our team played a UEL group game in Trabzon this week, where they suffered a one-goal defeat. Regardless, we still had good prospects going into the meeting with Fehérvár, we stood at the top of the table, while Vidi were 7th before the 14th round of the OTP Bank League. We started the encounter with Dibusz - Botka, Knoester, S. Mmaee, Pászka - Laidouni, Besic, Mercier - Zachariassen, R. Mmaee, Traoré.

First half

Our team started the match, but the first shot was taken by the home team at the end of the first minute: Kodro fired from distance, Dibusz got the ball out, but the second time our goalkeeper collected it. A pyrotechnic display by the fans of Fehérvár sent red and blue smoke onto the pitch, and there was not much of a situation during this time. Then Botka had to block a Schön shot. Traoré replied with a 14-metre shot after Mercier's pass, but he missed wide. The most dangerous situation thus far came in the 9th minute, when Houri curled a left-footed shot between the crossbar and the right post, from where the ball went out. We took the lead in the 14th minute, but it took a video referee to do it. Referee Tamás Bognár failed to notice that the ball had changed direction on Lednev's hand after Botka's cross from the right, and the VAR room intervened, and after reviewing the incident, Bognár awarded the penalty. The penalty kick was converted by Ryan Mmaee (0-1) and Attila Fiola, who complained after the decision, was shown a yellow card. Soon Mercier could have scored, but from a side position his powerful inside shot from under the bar was deflected out for a corner by Kovács. In the 30th minute, Schön weaved his way past Botka, but the crossing Knoester was able to clear before he could shoot from the corner of the five. After the situation, the VAR again reached out to Bognár, but this time the referee did not award a penalty. In the 38th minute, Besic's curling shot rattled the left post, hit the goalkeeper Kovács and bounced off him for a corner. The teams went into the break with a 1-0 Fradi lead.

Second half

The second half started with a big Pokorny ball inside our penalty area. In the 52nd minute, Xavier Mercier took a clear aim at the Vidi goal, but the ball whizzed over the top left corner. Vidi equalised after the kick-off: Fiola received the ball and kicked the ball across the pitch to Kastrati, who shot past the diving Dibusz into the bottom left corner (1-1). The score was not tied for long: after Zachariassen's cross from the right, Ryan Mmaee bombed a shot into the top right corner (1-2). Fehérvár immediately tried to equalize again, Lednev's 18-metre free-kick was pushed away from the bar by Dibusz, and our captain took the header from the goal line with great bravery. In the 65th minute, Kodro headed over from a Houri cross. The first substitution of the match followed, with Mercier being replaced by Marquinhos. In the 73rd minute, Marquinhos could have scored the winning goal but he missed the ball after Ryan Mmaee's assist. In the 75th minute, Lednev shot again from long range, but he missed the target. We also missed another great chance, in the 80th minute when Marquinhos launched Traore and our Malian winger shot wide. At the end of the match Ryan Mmaee was replaced by Anderson Esiti. In the 89th minute, Palko Dárdai equalised to make the final score 2-2.
