Following our men’s team’s 2-0 victory on Thursday as guests of AC Milan in the Europa League group stage, the team took the field on Sunday in the 13th round of the OTP Bank Liga at Vasas FC’s home stadium, the Rudolf Illovszky Stadium. This was the 175th top-flight league match in the shared history of the two teams. Our head coach, Balázs Borbély, opted for the following starting lineup: Dibusz – Osváth, Raemaekers, Gómez, Cadu – Maiga, Madarász – Zachariassen, Corbu, Birmancsevics – Yusuf.

First Half
The first scoring chance of the match fell to the home team; in the 4th minute, Szabolcs Mezei took a shot on goal from about 22 meters—Dénes Dibusz had to dive to make the save. In response, we attacked in the 8th minute, but Kristoffer Zachariassen’s cross was intercepted by the home team. In the 15th minute, Vasas broke away again; Csaba Molnár made it to our goal after a feint but shot just wide.

In the 26th minute, following a pass from Zachariassen, Ádám Madarász was about to play the ball back into the center, but the Vasas defenders cleared it for a corner; and seven minutes later, József Urblík tested Dibusz with a low shot—our goalkeeper made an easy save, just as he did shortly afterward when Gergő Pálinkás took a shot from about 15 meters out. No goals were scored in the first half, and the teams went into halftime tied at 0-0.
Second Half
Neither coach made any substitutions during halftime, so the game resumed with the same lineups. Even after the teams switched sides, Vasas had the first serious scoring chance: in the 53rd minute, Dénes Dibusz made another spectacular save to stop a shot by Urblík. Shortly afterward, Kovácsréti fired into the side netting, and Csaba Molnár forced Dibusz into a save.
Balázs Borbély made his first substitutions in the 64th minute, bringing on Milan hero Lenny Joseph for Yusuf Bamidele and Matús Bero for Ádám Madarász. A minute later, following a cross and a header by Mariano Gómez, Habib Maiga scored with a close-range header to give us the lead! (0-1)
One goal behind, Vasas pushed to equalize; in the 75th minute, for example, Botond Baráth headed just over the bar from close range, but it was our team that scored again: Matús Bero found the net in the 83rd minute, sealing the 2-0 final score.
With this victory, Fradi now has 23 points and sits in second place in the standings, one point behind Puskás Akadémia, which has played one more game.
There will be an international break starting Monday; our team’s next domestic league match will be on Saturday, November 21, at 6:30 p.m. against ETO FC at Groupama Arena. Tickets for this match, as well as for our upcoming home games, can be purchased at meccsjegy.fradi.hu and in person at the Groupama Arena ticket offices (general hours: Mon–Fri: 10:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m., Sat.: 9:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m., on match days until kickoff, Fri.: closed—except on match days)!
