On 10 January, we played our first winter training match against German second division side Münster at a training camp in Spain. Our fans were able to follow the match live, as well as the match against Piast Gliwice on Wednesday 15 January, and you can watch the matches again as well. More information about the streaming tickets HERE.
Our recently appointed head coach Robbie Keane has started Varga A. - Makreckis, Lakatos, Szalai, Raul Gustavo - Abu Fani, Rommens - Gruber, Zachariassen, Misidjan - Varga B.
First half
Munster's Maas shot was the first chance of the game, but it missed the target, Ádám Varga was well positioned anyway. Later, after a mistake by Lakatos, Makridis' shot was saved by our goalkeeper. A few minutes later the Germans got to the side netting, Münster were more active at this point. After that, Ádám Varga had to show a brilliant move to keep us in the game. At the other end, Szalai almost scored from Abu Fani's corner in the 30th minute, then our Israeli international's shot was saved by Schenk. Eight minutes later, Ádám Varga pushed the ball away from under the crossbar and Paetow's long-range attempt was also saved by our goalkeeper. Before the break, Németh came close to scoring, but Varga was again on the spot and the half ended 0-0.
Second half
Almost the whole line-up was changed at the break, with Adam Varga staying on the pitch, Kaján, Cissé, Gartenmann, Pászka, Pappoe, Ben Romdhane, Maiga, Kady, Traoré and Saldanha coming in. In the 57th minute, Kyerewaa was brought down by Ben Romdhane and the German side had a free kick from a dangerous position, but the ball missed the goal. Soon after, Varga again made a great save, before Gartenmann saved up. In the second half, Saldanha had a chance to shoot from close range, but failed to take the lead, and Kady's shot was saved by the German goalkeeper, so no goal was scored in our first pre-season match.
We continue on Wednesday 15 January at 14.00 against Piast Gliwice from Poland.
