Started the league season with a draw
Ferencvaros dominated from start to finish but was unable to convert its chances into goals against Vasas.

After suffering a defeat in Paks in the first round of the championship, Balázs Borbély and the team could have only one goal: to make up for that setback and secure three points against Vasas, which is returning to NB I after three seasons.

Our head coach gave several players from the team that fought its way through to the UEL knockout stage against Twente a rest for the match, which was moved up to 5:30 p.m. in accordance with the MLSZ’s decision. As a result, Lenny Joseph, Gavriel Kanikovszki, Callum O’Dowda, and Kristoffer Zachariassen all started the match on the bench. In the starting lineup, however, Edgar Szevikjan joined Ádám Bagi, making his first appearance of the season from the opening whistle.

Our starting lineup looked like this:
Dibusz – Osváth, Raemaekers, Zohoré, Cadu – Rommens, Corbu – Lisztes, Szevikjan, Bagi – Yusuf.

First Half
Our team had its first chance in the sixth minute, when Ádám Bagi dribbled his way into the visitors’ penalty area, but his shot ended up in the side netting.

There were no real scoring chances in front of either goal during the first quarter-hour, and even Vasas’s early corner kicks didn’t change that.

The pattern of play remained unchanged even after half an hour, though in the 40th minute, Attila Osváth found himself in a shooting position, and his shot went just wide of the visitors’ goal.

Second Half
At halftime, Balázs Borbély made three substitutions: Zétény Varga, Zsombor Gruber, and Kristoffer Zachariassen came on for Bagi, Lisztes, and Szevikjan, meaning that only Bamidele Yusuf remained among the strikers from our starting lineup for the second half.

In the 50th minute, Cadu broke into the visitors’ penalty area with a superb dribble; Zétény Varga’s scissor kick from his cross sailed just centimeters over the crossbar. Three minutes later, the play unfolded the same way, but this time our young forward narrowly missed the goal with a header.

A minute later, Márk Koszta found himself in a scoring position in front of our goal, but Dibusz didn’t have to make a save - unlike in the 62nd minute, when he pulled off a spectacular save.

Both before and after the hydration break that interrupted play, we controlled the match; the action took place continuously in the visitors’ half, but we were unable to convert our dominance into a goal, even though Zachariassen had the game-winning chance at his feet in the 82nd minute after a perfectly orchestrated play.

In the 85th minute, Dénes Dibusz had to make a spectacular save to push the ball out of the top left corner following a shot by Rab. In the final minutes, we completely pinned the visitors back, but we were unable to score.

Thus, our first home league match of the season ended in a 0-0 draw, and we earned one point.
