SUPERB VICTORY
By the goals of Sigér and Tokmac Ferencvaros beat Celtic in the Champions League.

Last Wednesday Ferencvaros Budapest played against Djurgarden Stockholm in Budapest in the first qualifying round of the Champions League. Then, the green-white players played dominantly and won 2-0. The next destination for Fradi was Scotland where our team played against the Scottish champion Celtic tonight.

Although we were not the favorites for this game, the players gave all they had for the win: already in the 8th minute, the ball landed at Sigér who launched a huge shot from 20 which became the leading goal for us. This was truly shocking for the home team. We definitely did not have higher ball possession tonight, but aside from a period in the second half, Celtic could not cause continuous and significant danger in front of our goal: they equalized in the 53rd minute and a couple of minutes later hit the bar. After this, we had some counter-attacks and in the 75th minute, we took the lead again. Tokmac left his defender behind and reached the box in a sprint then with a clever flat shot scored for Fradi again. In the remaining minutes, Ferencvaros stood firm against the Celtic attempts and protected well the goal.

The final result remained unchanged: Celtic – Ferencváros 1-2. Fradi goes through to the next round of the Champions League qualifiers. Truly an amazing win.
