THANKS FOR EVERYTHING, AISSA LAIDOUNI!
The Tunisian national midfielder won two Hungarian championship titles and an MMK with FTC.

Aissa Laidouni, who has been with Ferencváros since 5 August 2020, is leaving the club - the Tunisian midfielder, who participated on the 2022 World Cup with the Tunisian national team, will continue his career with German top-flight side Union Berlin. We recap Laidouni's Fradi-career in farewell!

The beginnings

Aissa Laidouni signed for Ferencváros on 5 August 2020 from Voluntari in the Romanian league. He played his first competitive match 9 days later, on 14 August at the home of then first division MTK Budapest. He went on to play three of the five UEFA Champions League qualifying matches, playing an active part in the club's bid to regain a place in the main draw after 25 years.

Group stages, goals, trophies

Laidouni also made his presence felt in the Champions League group stage, playing in five matches and missing only the home group game against Juventus because of injury. He scored for the first time in the OTP Bank League on 12 December 2020 against ZTE FC.

Laidouni also scored in the spring season for Paks and Puskás Akadémia, and in total he scored three goals to help Ferencváros to their 32nd league title in their history.

At the start of the 2021/2022 season, Laidouni missed a couple of games due to injury, but he was involved in the heroic win against Slavia Praha and the match against Young Boys in the qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League. He later played in five UEFA Europa League Group G matches, scoring the winning goal in a 1-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen on 9 December 2021.

Laidouni played in 27 games in the Hungarian top flight, scoring three goals and assisting five goals. Among his goals, his free-kick goal for Paks on 3 October 2021 stands out.

Aissa Laidouni, who is also very popular among fans, played all but one match in our MOL Hungarian Cup campaign, which means that along with another Hungarian championship gold medal, he also won the first MMK victory of his career.

Unforgettable goal and World Cup participation

Laidouni could start the 2022/2023 season with the hope of travelling to Qatar in November to represent Tunisia, who have already qualified for the World Cup. The decision was finally announced by the Tunisian captain on 14 November, after the final 2022 league match.

Of course, there were also memorable events before the World Cup. We started in the Champions League qualifiers, where Aissa Laidouni scored against both Tobol from Kazakhstan and Slovan from Bratislava - the latter goal setting up a 4-1 win that gave us the exact same margin of victory as the Slovakians won with 30 years ago.

Laidouni went on to play in five UEFA Europa League group stage matches and was also part of the big success of winning Group H and thus qualifying for the Best 16s round. He made nine appearances in the tournament, so although he left, he would be Hungarian champion for a third time at this stage.

Our player also represented Ferencváros in the World Cup, playing in all three of his team's group matches, and was voted the best player in the field in the first draw against Denmark. Laidouni scored in the 1-0 win over defending champions France, but it was not enough to earn them progression. After the World Cup, he was named Tunisia's Player of the Year.

Aissa Laidouni's market value at the time of his signing was €500,000, according to Transfermarkt, the authoritative source on transfer matters. Thanks to his brilliance and his World Cup performances, this figure has steadily increased and the portal now puts the midfielder's value at €4 million. Laidouni has played 113 games for Ferencváros, scoring 11 goals, winning two league titles and one Hungarian Cup title, and has also appeared in the main draw of three European Cup tournaments. As a footballer for Ferencváros, he became a Tunisian national team player and has now made 28 appearances for the club.

With the sale of Aissa Laidouni, Ferencváros can claim to have sold players to all five European top-flight leagues since 2014. Muhamed Besic joined English Premier League side Everton from Ferencváros in 2014, Somalia signed for French side Toulouse in 2015, and in 2016, Ferencváros sold Ádám Nagy to Italian side Bologna. Last year, Myrto Uzuni left for then Spanish first division side Granada, and now Aissa Laidouni has joined Union Berlin.

Thanks for everything, Aissa Laidouni! We wish you all the best for your future career!
