For the first time ever, our 35-time gold medal winners will be involved right in the second qualifying round of the Champions League thanks to their excellent international cup run in recent years.
The draw for the second qualifying round of Europe's most prestigious cup competition was held on Wednesday 19 June. Ahead of the draw, the list of potential opponents was narrowed down in the morning: it was known beforehand that our top seeds would meet the winners of the first-round ties between The New Saints (Wales)-FK Decic (Montenegro), FK Borac Banja Luka (Bosnia) and KF Egnatia Rrogozhine (Albania), Dinamo Minsk (Belarus)-Pjunik Yerevan (Armenia) or Ordabaszi Simkent FK (Kazakhstan)-Petrocub Hincesti (Moldova).
The draw, which took place at UEFA headquarters in Nyon from 12 noon, has finally drawn The New Saints (Wales)-FK Decic (Montenegro), meaning that our men's football team will start the 2024/2025 season at home against either the Welsh or Montenegrins.
The match will be played in a round-robin format. The official dates for the second round of qualifying are 23-24 July and 30-31 July, with the exact start dates to be decided at a later date.
