In the first match of the UEFA Europa Conference League group stage, Ferencváros men's football team played against Serbian FK Cukaricki at home, at the Groupama Arena. Head coach Dejan Stankovic started the game with Dibusz - Botka, Mmaee, Cissé, Ramírez - Makreckis, Abu Fani - Zachariassen - Marquinhos, Varga B., Owusu.
Our team started the match with more energy, we had more possession and in the ninth minute, Barnabás Varga headed into the visitors' net after Abu Fani's free kick, but the referee disallowed the goal for an offside. After the offside goal, our side continued to dominate the field, in the 13th minute Ramírez was fouled on the left wing, but Varga could not get his shot into the net, and Zachariassen's shot was cleared by the opposing defenders. A few minutes later, however, the opponents were in position, but Dénes Dibusz made an important save. In the 26th minute, however, our goalkeeper could not help as the visitors took the lead by Ivanovic (0-1).
Four minutes later, Zachariassen launched Owusu, who shot from an tight angle but Samurovics saved. In the 33rd minute, Kovac was fouled by Botka inside the penalty area, the referee first pointed to the penalty spot and then changed his decision after a VAR review. However, five minutes before the end of the first half, Abu Fani launched Owusu, who was brought down inside the penalty area. A penalty was awarded and was converted by Barnabás Varga, who equalised in the 44th minute (1-1). Before the break, we took the lead, with Owusu scoring a stunning goal (2-1) from a corner.
The first half of the second half was dominated by our team, we got to the opponent's box several times, but we didn't create any serious situations. In the 66th minute, Barnabás Varga started Owusu, who dribbled through his defender and then fought for a free kick. Ramírez stood behind the ball and his powerful shot just missed the net by inches. A minute later, Varga Barnabas was replaced by Pesic and it didn't take long for the Serbian player to get his first effort on goal, his well-placed header was pushed above the bar by the away goalkeeper.
In the 74th minute, Dejan Stankovic made two changes, with Abu Fani replaced by Ben Romdhane and Owusu replaced by Lisztes. Five minutes later, Lisztes was in position, his shot was saved by Samurovic, but Pesic smashed the rebound into the top right corner (3-1). In extra time, we still threatened, but no more goals were scored, so we came from behind to beat Chukaricski 3-1 in the first match of the UEFA Europa Conference League group stage.
Our men's football team will next face Kisvárda on Sunday 24 September at 17.30 at the Groupama Arena.
