TWO-GOAL DEFEAT IN KECSKEMÉT
We couldn't beat the newcomer in the 9th round of the NB I on a muddy pitch.

After a three-week break, the battle for the Hungarian top-flight football title resumed. one of the newcomers, Ferencváros visited Kecskeméti TE. The last time we met KTE was in the 2014-2015 season, when we beat them 3-1 home and away. Our team started this season with confidence, winning six out of six games and leading the table with a goal difference of 18-1. Kecskemét can't be ashamed either, they were still in third place at the start of the round, and have far exceeded expectations so far. Our team, which is also top of the group on the international stage, plays a very important UEFA Europa League match against Red Star Belgrade in Belgrade next Thursday, so a few days after the national team matches Stanislav Cherchesov had to take the freshness of the players into account when selecting the starting line-up. Our master sent the following eleven to the pitch today: Dibusz – Wingo, S. Mmaee, Knoester, Civic – Esiti, Vécsei – Auzqui, Gojak, Tokmac – Boli.

First half

Our team started the match. Unfortunately, the pitch was not in the best condition due to the rains of the past few days and after a few minutes of play it turned into a sea of mud. Boli had the first chance in the 6th minute after Esiti's cross, but our striker was caught offside. The reply came in the 8th minute, when Bence Tóth headed clear from the penalty spot after a cross from the left, but fortunately missed the target. Soon after, Tóth was again in position but Knoester saved. At the other end, Civic was lucky to keep the ball, but after the throw-in the ball was cut out by the onrushing Esiti. In the 14th minute, Boli made a fine run down the right, crossed high into the middle, Tokmac came up empty and fired over from 13 yards out. Two minutes later, Esiti found Gojak with a good ball, who fired a low shot from the corner of the five-yard box after a return, but Bence Varga saved. In the 21st minute, Vécsei made a great save at Szalai's shot. In the 23rd minute we had a chance, a corner from the right was headed to Boli, who tried to score with his heels, but the ball was stuck. Vécsei then attempted a long-range shot, but his shot from 24 yards was not dangerous. In the 28th minute, the home team took the lead: KTE quickly took a free kick, Krisztián Nagy, who came up the right side, was all alone and slotted it over the diving Dibusz (1-0). In the 32nd minute Knoester pulled down Tóth inside the penalty area and Karakó awarded a penalty. Our Dutch defender received a yellow card. In the meantime, the scoreboard showed that the video referee (VAR) was temporarily out of action, so they could not replay the incident. From the penalty Krisztián Nagy scored into the bottom right corner of the goalpost (2-0). Later the VAR was also repaired. Levente Vágó received a yellow card from the home side before the break. In the 45th minute, Auzqui gave a sharp cross from the right, but our strikers missed the ball. Before half time Civic curled in from the left, the ball bounced off Rjaskó's foot and just missed the left post.

Second half

At the break, Cherchesov made one substitution, sending on Zachariassen to replace Gojak. A quick Auzqui positioning indicated that we would like to make it even immediately, but his shot was deflected off a defender. In reply, KTE's Szalai bombed narrowly wide from distance. Civic's flat shot was saved by Varga in the 55th minute. In the 57th minute Adama Traoré came on for Esiti. In the 61st minute, we missed a great chance: Traoré passed to Zachariassen, he crossed to the centre where Boli arrived, but it was saved by the defenders for a corner, from which Auzqui finally shot over from long range. We made another substitution in the 63rd minute with Besic and R. Mmaee replacing Auzqui and Vécsei. In the 68th minute, Wingo crossed from the right, but Szalai saved with his head from Traoré, then Civic came back from the left and our Malian winger had touched the ball, which almost went into the top left corner, but Rjaskó cleared the ball for a corner. Tóth Bence received a yellow card for sliding onto Knoester. We tried more and more from distance, but first Samy Mmaee and then Besic bombed over. Our last substitution was Marquinhos, who replaced Wingo. In the 80th minute, Adama Traoré's shot was saved by the home goalkeeper, and Besic and Marquinhos both had efforts at the end of the game.

No changes were made so we suffered our first defeat of the 2022/23 season.
