Two-goal victory, we leave Győr with 3 points!
Levi scored from a free kick and Varga scored with a header in today's 2-0 win.

After the 1-1 draw against Viktoria Plzen in the UEL match, our Hungarian championship-winning men's soccer team took to the field as guests of ETO FC Győr in the 8th round of the Fizz League. Our Irish head coach, Robbie Keane, made several changes to the midweek match, ultimately putting his trust in the following eleven: Dibusz – Gartenmann, Raemaekers, Szalai – Cadu, Levi, Ötvös, Kanikovszki, Nagy – Gruber, Pesics.

First half

The home team started the match, and in the first minute, Schön crossed the ball into the middle after a pass from Bumba, but Dibusz moved well out of his goal. In the sixth minute, Szalai lost possession, and Benbouali found himself in a good position, but Raemaekers blocked his shot. A minute later, our team attacked, with Cadu crossing the ball after a deep pass from Gartenmann, but he couldn't find a teammate.

In the 13th minute, after a pass from Cadu, Pesics shot the ball powerfully into the middle, where Gruber was waiting, but it was too long for our young Hungarian striker, so he couldn't reach it. Five minutes later, we had a promising free kick, Levi stepped up and curled it sensationally into the top left corner (0-1).

There were chances for both sides in the rest of the half, with Benbouali and Bumba threatening for Győr and Kanikovszki for us, but only our Israeli midfielder found the target, with Petrás making the save. In the 31st minute, Anton passed to Bumba, who controlled the ball well, but Raemaekers slid in to block. After a Győr corner, a quick counterattack saw the two closing central defenders fail to communicate, and Pesics almost got lucky, but the ball was millimeters too long, our Serbian striker poked at it, and a clearance followed.

As the break approached, the home team increased the pressure. In the 39th minute, Bumba's second wave pass was shot towards the goal by Vitális, but Szalai selflessly blocked it with his head, making it easy for Dibusz. A minute later, Vitális tested his national teammate again, but Dibusz came out on top once more.

Second half

Both head coaches made substitutions during the break: Gavrics replaced Rajmund Tóth at ETO, while Tóth came on for Ötvös at our end.

After the break, we had to wait two minutes for the first chance for Ferencváros, with Gartenmann's header going over the bar after a corner from Kanikovszki. Moments later, Pesics broke through the defense, but the linesman flagged for offside. In the 55th minute, Győr tried their luck from distance, but Anton's shot went straight down the middle and Dibusz made the save.

In the 58th minute, Robbie Keane replaced Pesics with Varga, and Gruber  with Joseph. In the 64th minute, at the end of a beautifully executed move, substitute Barnabás Varga headed the ball into the Győr goal (0-2). In the last twenty minutes, Győr mobilized all its forces to try to score, while FTC tried to break its opponent with quick counterattacks after winning the ball.

In the 77th minute, Schön started on the right side, dribbled with his left foot, but to no avail, as Szalai read the Hungarian winger's intentions well. In the 83rd minute, Zachariassen had the chance to score the decisive goal, but after a pass from Varga, he shot over with his left foot. ETO did not let up in the final minutes, doing everything they could to score a goal, but they were unable to break through our defense, and our team won 2-0, earning three very important points.

Our team will next take the field on Thursday, October 2, at 9:00 p.m. as guests of Genk, Belgium, in the second round of the UEFA Europa League main draw.
