Our men's football team, the defending Hungarian champions, visited Fehérvár FC at home in the 24th round of the OTP Bank League after defeating Kecskemét 2-0. Head coach Dejan Stankovic started the match with Dibusz - Makreckis, Wingo, Cissé, Civic - Abu Fani, Maiga, Loncar - Zachariassen, Varga B., Marquinhos. In the previous match of the round, Paks drew with DVSC, so we could start the match against third-placed Fehérvár with the bet that we would take the lead in the NB I table if we win.
First half
In the first minutes of the match we kept the ball in the front of the penalty area of the home team, tried to make more crosses and passes, but the first shot came from the home team: Stefanelli's ball was intercepted by our defence. In the 22nd minute, after a corner, Stefanelli threatened this time with a header from close range, but Dénes Dibusz saved with great skill! Zachariassen and Loncar also looked for their partners from the wing, but their balls were off target. In the 31st minute, Marquinhos fired from the corner of the penalty area, over the top. In the 39th minute, the reflexes of our goalkeeper were needed again, as he made a great save from Gradisar's flat shot. Two minutes later, Barnabás Varga was on the end of a cross from Loncar, our striker hit the top bar but was already in offside position. Marquinhos then crossed from the left for Varga, whose header gave us the lead (0-1)! In the extra time of the first half Marquinhos tried to score once more, but the ball was collected by Balázs Tóth.
Second half
In the 49th minute Gradisar shot from an acute angle, Dibusz saved. Two minutes later, Civic sent in a cross from the wing, Varga positioned himself superbly and scored his second goal (0-2) for himself and our team with a header! Zachariassen then shot from distance, but the home goalkeeper saved. In the 70th minute, Csongvai's free kick was saved by Dibusz. In the 75th minute, Varga lifted the ball over the goalkeeper after a low drive, but our player was offside and the goal was disallowed. In the 78th minute, we made a substitution, with Pesic replacing Varga, Shevikian replacing Marquinhos and Botka replacing Makreckis. It was Endre Botka's 150th league game for Ferencváros.
The team can now look forward to the home match against Puskás Akadémia a week later on 17 March from the top of the league table.
