Advanced to the cup quarterfinals
Our team advanced in the MOL Hungarian Cup with a 4-0 victory over second-division Csákvár.

After last Saturday's 3-0 league victory against Újpest, Robbie Keane's team faced a cup match on Wednesday, hosting second division Aqvital FC Csákvár in the fifth round of the MOL Hungarian Cup. Our team's lineup changed for the quarterfinal match. This time, Ádám Varga, who was recalled from Debrecen in January, stood in goal, 19-year-old defender Csongor Lakatos was in defense, and 16-year-old Barnabás Czéh, who is none other than the son of our former player and 1994/1995 Hungarian champion László Czéh, was on the bench alongside several other young players.

First half

Ferencváros quickly pinned their opponents back in front of their goal. First, Bamidele Yusuf shot from five meters out, but Pál Barna managed to block it, and the next chance fell to Cadu, but our defender's close-range shot was saved by Csákvár goalkeeper András Perczel. All this happened within the first five minutes. Our opening goal didn't take long to arrive: in the 11th minute, Yusuf passed to Elton Acolatse, who passed to Lenny Joseph, who shot from inside the box – his shot deflected off the visitors' defender and found its way into the net (1-0).

Even with the lead, the team did not slow down, and four minutes later, Fradi celebrated another goal after a combination between Acolatse and Joseph. Acolatse broke into the penalty area from the left and fired a shot from a sharp angle, which the goalkeeper parried into the middle. Joseph pounced on the rebound and shot into the left corner of the goal, doubling the lead (2-0).

Three minutes later, the third goal came: after a great pass from Acolatse, Kristoffer Zachariassen shot into András Perczel's goal, making it 3-0.

After a great start, we slowed down a bit, but in the 27th minute, the net rattled again, but Joseph's goal was disallowed by the referee for offside. Five minutes before the end of the first half, another valid goal was scored when Cadu fired into the net from the edge of the box after a cross, making it 4-0 at halftime.

Second half

The Csákvár team made three substitutions during the break, but Robbie Keane did not make any changes at this point. In the 62nd minute, with us still leading 4-0, four players came on: Philippe Rommens, Máriusz Corbu, Benjámin Gólik, and Ádám Madarász. The new players immediately made their mark, with Rommens hitting the crossbar and Madarász hitting the right post. In the 70th minute, Gólik shot over the goal.

In the 77th minute, Robbie Keane used his last substitution, sending in young Barnabás Czéh to replace Jonathan Levi, who made his debut as a newcomer and received loud applause from the crowd. With four minutes left in regular time, Gólik shot over the bar at the end of a nice attack. The score remained unchanged, and we advanced to the quarterfinals with a confident 4-0 victory.

Ferencváros will next play on Saturday, February 14, at 5:00 p.m. in Zalaegerszeg, as guests of ZTE FC in the 22nd round of the Fizz League.

In the MOL Hungarian Cup, we will be guests of Kazincbarcika, also a first division team, who defeated NB II Ajka on Wednesday, in the quarterfinals, which will be played on Wednesday, March 4.
