We came from behind to win in Kazincbarcika
Goals from Varga, Tóth, and Makreckis secured a 3-1 away win against the newcomers.

After another victory in the UEFA Europa League, our defending champion soccer team continued its campaign in the Fizz League on Sunday. FTC was the guest of newcomer Kazincbarcika, albeit in Mezőkövesd, as the Barcika stadium is not yet suitable for hosting first division matches.

In August's match at Groupama Arena, we secured a confident 3-0 victory with goals from Gavriel Kanikovszki, Zsombor Gruber, and Barnabás Varga.

First half

At the end of the first minute, Meshack won the ball after a big mistake by Toon Raemaekers, then crossed from the left to Norbert Könyves, who headed from five meters, but Dénes Dibusz made a great save from the bottom left corner. In response, Barnabás Nagy's cross was headed just wide of the bottom left corner by Barnabás Varga.

In the 7th minute, Martin Slogar fell next to Ibrahim Cissé. VAR reviewed the incident at length, then Balázs Berke also came out to assess the situation and finally awarded a penalty. Bálint Kártik scored the penalty in the 11th minute, kicking the ball into the middle of the goal. 1-0!

Fradi then had more possession, but despite our attackers getting in front of goal, the home side's defenders repeatedly cleared the ball. In the 26th minute, Kazincbarcika launched a nice counterattack, which ended with Könyves shooting just wide of the right corner from eight meters out.

In the 35th minute, Ferencváros equalized! Alex Tóth took a superb free kick from the left side, which found Varga coming in from deep, and our national team striker jumped over everyone and headed the ball into the goal. 1-1!

Four minutes later, Raemaekers was indecisive, Könyves easily turned away from him and shot, but Dibusz made a great save. In the 39th minute, Kártik's shot was blocked by our defenders, which then fell to the onrushing Rasheed, but the defender shot wide from 13 meters.

Although the last few minutes belonged to Kazincbarcika, Fradi had reason to celebrate in the 43rd minute. Tóth, who had provided the assist a few minutes earlier, received a good ball from Naby Keita, then curled it perfectly into the goal from 16 meters out on the left, with the help of the left post. 1-2!

Ferencváros pushed hard in the final minutes. After the leading goal, Lenny Joseph shot just wide, then our French striker hit the post again, but the score remained unchanged, with Fradi  leading 2-1 at halftime.

Second half

Fradi started the second half more actively. After a pass from Tóth, Cissé shot, but it was blocked, then the rebound fell to Tóth, who also tried his luck, but his attempt from 19 meters hit Meshack. In the 63rd minute, after another dangerous free kick by Tóth, Varga and Raemaekers jumped for the ball together, with the former finally sliding it past the bottom left corner.

Dibusz had to make a save after a long time when he confidently blocked Sós' long-range shot in the 65th minute. However, our goalkeeper had nothing to do with Meshack's attempt, which flew over the goal. Dániel Gyollai had to use all his skills when he blocked Kanikovszki's 18-meter shot in the 73rd minute.

Yusuf Bamidele, who provided an assist against Ludogorec and came on as a substitute against Kazincbarcika, came close to scoring the third goal in the 79th minute, but Gyollai's shot only hit the goalkeeper. The same thing happened two minutes later, although on that occasion our Nigerian striker's shot was nicely saved by the home team's goalkeeper.

In the 82nd minute, after a textbook counterattack, Nagy broke through on the left with Yusuf's ball, then shot flatly into the middle, and Cebrail Makreckis, arriving from deep, cleverly shot into the bottom right corner from 15 meters. 1-3! Kanikovszki could have sealed the match, but he missed badly from a clear scoring opportunity.

Jonathan Levi's shot went just wide of the goal in the 92nd minute, but the result remained unchanged, as defending champions Ferencváros came from behind to win 3-1 away at newcomers Kazincbarcika.

There will be a national team break next week, so our team will next host Nyíregyháza on Saturday, November 22, at 7:30 p.m. in the 14th round of the Fizz League.
