First half
The first chance of the match came for the Germans, Wanitzek was on target but his shot was off goal and missed the target. In the eighth minute, O'Dowda's cross from the left had to be cleared by the Karlsruhe defence, then Ben Farhat raced towards Dibusz, but our goalkeeper stepped out in good time to collect the ball.
In the 13th minute, Wanitzek again created a threat in front of goal, but his cross was not met. In the 20th minute Ötvös received the ball long but managed to reach it, then Tóth's broken shot was flicked on by Varga but our Hungarian striker was on offside. Three minutes later we managed to outplay the German defence, after a great attack Varga, Levi, Keita had the ball in their path, our Guinean midfielder had a clear shot in front of him, he didn't hesitate and scored a great goal (1-0).
At the beginning of the 37th minute, O'Dowda crossed the ball with his left foot after two tricks, Joseph rose highest and headed, but the German goalkeeper saved bravely. At the end of the first half there were chances for both sides, but no further goals were scored and the teams went into the break with a 1-0 lead.
Second half
The Germans came out on a higher speed and two minutes into the second half they equalised, Ben Farhat scoring (1-1). After Karlsruhe's goal, the Germans turned up the tempo, first Tóth with a foot shot, then Varga with a header, both times Bernat saved.
In the 53rd minute, Simic's header missed Dibusz' goal. Three minutes later, Joseph's shot rattled off the post, then Levi's curling shot missed by inches. In the 59th minute we made a number of changes with Raemaekers, Cadu, Pesics and Nagy coming on and Joseph, O'Dowda, Varga and Makreckis leaving the field. Moments later the visiting defenders had to clear after Nagy came on as a substitute.
In the 63rd minute, Keita made a sensational move to turn away from his defender and poke Levi, who hit the side netting. We made several changes for the last fifteen minutes: Keita, Cissé, Tóth, Gartenmann and Levi went off, with Botka, Szalai, Abu Fani, Chirkovic and Sevikjan taking their places. Eight minutes before the end of normal time, after a pass from Csirkovics, Sevikjan pulled the ball past the goalkeeper and shot into the goal (2-1).
