Our defending champion men's soccer team hosted Kazincbarcika, currently at the bottom of the table, in the 24th round of the Fizz League. Robbie Keane's team was the clear favorite in the match, and they lived up to expectations, fighting hard to defeat the team from Borsod 2-1.
Our starting lineup for the match was as follows:
Gróf – Gómez, Raemaekers, Szalai G. – Osváth, Kanikovszki, Abu Fani, Corbu, Acolatse – Kovacevic, Gruber.
First half
We took the initiative from the moment the starting whistle blew. We had our second corner in the fifth minute. In the eighth minute, Franko Kovacevic hit the crossbar after a superb pass from Abu Fani. In the 12th minute, Gergő Szőke fell inside our box, and VAR reviewed a possible penalty, but there was no foul. In the 18th minute, Zsombor Gruber dribbled beautifully to the baseline, but the visitors' goalkeeper was able to get to his pass.
In the 22nd minute, after a corner kick by Gruber, Toon Raemaekers' header was saved by the visitors' goalkeeper. In the 26th minute, we were really just centimeters away from scoring. After another corner kick by Gruber, Gábor Szalai slid the ball, which Franko Kovacevic was able to reach, but Juhász cleared the ball off the goal line. VAR also reviewed the incident, but the ball was not in.
At the end of the 45th minute, Gavriel Kanikovszki shot from 20 meters just over the goal, but despite attacking throughout the entire first half and creating numerous chances, we were unable to take the lead against the tenacious defense of the visitors.

Second half
During the break, Ádám Madarász replaced Máriusz Corbu. In the 50th minute, Gruber slid into Abu Fani's pass, which was just out of reach for Kovacevic. We attacked continuously, while the visitors defended in pairs. In the 53rd minute, Juhász saved shots from Kovacevic and, a minute later, Acolatse, and in the 55th minute, the Barcika goalkeeper pushed Gruber's shot onto the crossbar after a series of spectacular moves.
It was almost inevitable that Norbert Könyves, who had come on a few minutes earlier, would give the visitors the lead with his first touch of the ball (0-1).

In the 68th minute, Acolatse slipped the ball into the box, and Kovacevic disappeared inside the box, but the assistant referee had already flagged for offside. Robbie Keane made three substitutions in the 70th minute: Joseph, Yusuf, and Nagy Barna came on for Abu Fani, Acolatse, and Gruber. The visitors hardly had possession of the ball, yet we still couldn't manage to score the equalizer.
In the 87th minute, Kovacevic and Szalai were brought down by the visitors' defenders, and the penalty awarded by the referee was confirmed by VAR after a lengthy review. Although our Croatian striker missed the penalty (Juhász saved it), he scored on the rebound (1-1).
We know from our head coach: it's not over until it's over! And indeed, in the 90+4th minute, at the end of a scramble in front of the goal, Jonathan Levi scored the winning goal (2-1)!
