Our 34-time champion men's football team hosted Zalaegerszeg in the last, 17th round of this year's OTP Bank League. Our team drew 1-1 at home to Fiorentina in the UEFA Europa Conference League this week, finishing second in their group and progressing to the knockout stage, leaving them in good form and motivated for the end of the year. In the last match of the calendar year, Dejan Stankovic opted for a starting line-up of Dibusz - Paska, Aaneba, Cissé, Civic - Abu Fani, Besic - Marquinhos, Zachariassen, Lisztes - Pesic.

Before the meeting, the CEO of FTC Labdarúgó Zrt., Pál Orosz, awarded our team captain, Dénes Dibusz, and our Brazilian winger, Marquinhos. Dénes Dibusz received the HSA Player of the Month Award, as our fans voted him the best FTC footballer of November, while Marquinhos played his 50th league game for Ferencváros against Paks.

First half

Our team started the match better, in the first minutes we got to the opponent's goal several times, but we didn't manage to create any really dangerous situations. In the 14th minute, Lisztes received a good ball, beat his defender and shot from 12 meters, but Dombó saved nicely. Four minutes later the visitors had their first attempt, but Dibusz saved the shot from distance.

In the 22nd minute, Abu Fani aimed at the visitors' goal, but his long-range shot was cleared by Dombó. In the second half we nailed Zalaegerszeg to their goal, we had several chances, the biggest perhaps in the 45th minute when Abu Fani's cross was headed wide by Zachariassen.

Second half

In the second half, we did not have to wait long for the goal, in the 50th minute Lisztes scored, who struck a blocked shot by Pesics (1-0). Four minutes later, Marquinhos had a chance, but the Brazilian striker shot wide of the left post. In the 68th minute, Marquinhos shot again, this time from the corner of the penalty area, but his attempt missed the target. In the same minute Dejan Stankovic was substituted, Besic was replaced by Baráth.

In the 73rd minute, Abu Fani's corner was met by Pesic, but he fired over the bar. Three minutes later, our team doubled their lead, following a corner, Lisztes slipped the ball in front of Aaneba and the defender shot into the bottom right corner from five metres (2-0). Ten minutes before the end of normal time, Zachariassen's shot went inches over the top bar.

In the 80th minute, our head coach made another substitution, with Abu Fani replaced by Gojak and Pesic replaced by Ben Romdhane. The Tunisian international proved to be a good decision, in the 86th minute he received the ball from Zachariassen and scored a great goal from 14 meters (3-0). This has been his first goal at our club. In the 90th minute Kehinde came on the pitch, while Zachariassen was replaced by Tokmac.

With this, our team ended the year 2023 with a three-goal win and spends the winter in second place in the league.
