Argentine Mariano Gómez will continue his career with our 36-time record champion men's soccer team.
Born in Esperanza, Argentina, on February 5, 1999, the defender began his career at Unión Santa Fe, where he rose through the ranks of the youth teams and made his senior debut in the top flight in 2017. Two years later, the 194-centimeter-tall center back was loaned to UD Ibiza in Spain, and after one season, in the summer of 2020, he was purchased by Atlético Madrid, where he played for their second division B team. In January 2021, he was loaned to Racing Ferrol, and in August he played for lower-division Algeciras CF. He became a regular starter, but after a year he was loaned to third-division Badajoz, where he was also a key player. In the 2023/24 season, he played for Atlético Madrid B in the third division, but at the end of the season he signed with FC Zurich, a 13-time Swiss first division champion and 10-time cup winner.
Gómez has played a total of 62 games for the Swiss side over the past year and a half, scoring two goals and providing three assists. He has played in 15 league games and two cup games this season.
