It is now official that we have signed Croatian striker Franko Kovacevic from Slovenian club NK Celje.
Franko Kovacevic was born on August 8, 1999, in Kapronca, Croatia. After playing for smaller Croatian clubs in his youth, he was loaned to Hajduk Split in 2017 and then to NK Rudes in 2019. Six months later, the 186 cm tall striker signed for Hoffenheim's second team, where he scored seven goals in 12 games. On loan from the Germans, he first went to Cincinnati in the United States, then to Pafos in Cyprus, and then to NK Domzale in Slovenia, where he scored 14 goals and provided six assists in 34 games.
He then signed with another German team, Wehen Wiesbaden, scoring twice against Hertha BSC in Bundesliga 2, as well as against St. Pauli and Padeborn. From there, he was loaned to South Korea's Gangwon FC. In the summer of 2025, after his loan contract expired, Wehen Wiesbaden loaned the footballer to Slovenian club NK Celje, where he flourished, scoring 25 goals and providing two assists in 28 games for the team this season.
He scored a hat-trick against Greek side AEK Athens in the UEFA Europa Conference League, then scored twice against Irish side Shamrock Rovers, and scored three times against Swiss side Lugano in the UEFA Europa League qualifiers. He led the UECL scoring charts with five goals, as well as the Croatian league with 11 goals.
