WE PROCEEDED IN THE HUNGARIAN CUP WITH PENALTIES
We finished 1-1 against DVSC and qualified for the next round in the cup with penalties!

Our 34-times champion men's football team played against DVSC in the round of 16 of the MOL Hungarian Cup 2023/2024 at the Nagyerdei Stadium. Our team started with Varga Á - Makreckis, Mmaee, Abena, Ramírez - Besic, Loncar, Abu Fani - Ben Romdhane, Sevikjan - Pesics.

First half

In the third minute, Debrecen got a free kick from a dangerous position, but Balázs Dzsudzsák's shot was blocked by the line. A few minutes later, Ferenczi's shot missed the goal by inches. In the 15th minute Ben Romdhane's centre was cleared by the defenders, Pecsis was waiting for the ball in the middle. Ramírez set up our next chance, but his rebound was missed by Loncar.

In the 31st minute, Dzsudzsák again had a free kick about 20 meters from the goal, his roll went just over, then Loncar dribbled inside Loki's penalty area but couldn't shoot. At the other end, Varga had to make a great save from Dzsudzsák's 22-metre effort. Besic also attempted a shot, his rebound attempt was saved by Megyeri. However, the VAR flagged a possible penalty for the block and the referee awarded a penalty. Pesic got behind the ball and made no mistake (0-1).

Second half

The second half started cold for us. DVSC got a free kick from a very dangerous angle, just 16 metres from our goal, and Abena was fouled and sent off by the referee. Varga then saved Dzsudzsák's shot with great move. In the break we made one substitution, Sevikian was replaced by Ibrahim Cissé. In the 55th minute, Ferenczi tested our goalkeeper's reflexes, but Varga held the ball. We brought on Kristoffer Zachariassen, Habib Maiga and Marquinhos to replace Ben Romdhane, Loncar and Besic. Shortly afterwards, the injured Mmaee was replaced by Endre Botka. The drama came in the 78th minute, a shot from home hit the hands of the diving Makreckis, a penalty came from the other end as well. Varga sensed the direction of Bárány's penalty, but the with the rebound the DVSC player was fortunate to score. Shortly after the incident, our head coach Dejan Stankovic was sent off by the referee. In the last minute of normal time, Zachariassen was almost in position, but he was surrounded by the Debrecen defenders. In the last minutes of extra time, there was still danger in front of our goal, but the score remained 1-1. It was time for extra time.

Extra time

Kenan Kodro was on the pitch in the continuation, replacing Pesic. Dzsudzsák's cross was narrowly headed wide by Bárány in the first minutes of extra time, then Kocsis' roll was saved by Varga, while Maiga's shot at the other goal was blocked. In the 112th minute, Kodro had a shot on goal but Megyeri saved it. There were a couple of small situations in the restart, but no further goals were scored and the penalty shoot-out was called.

Penalties

Kodro scored the first penalty, Bódi equalised. Abu Fani was also confident, then Kocsis' shot was saved by Ádám Varga! Ramírez scored the third, Sukhodovsky also. Marquinhos scored the fourth, Ferenczi's shot made it 4-3 before the last round. Zachariassen scored the decisive penalty, and Ferencváros went through to the next round!
