WE STARTED THE YEAR WITH A MERCIER DOUBLE AND A WIN
Our men's football team won by two goals against German first division side Augsburg.

Ferencváros men's football team played their first pre-season match of the year in ideal conditions, in sunny and close to 20 degrees Celsius against German top-flight FC Augsburg at the Estadi Olimpic Camilo Cano, the local stadium in La Nucía. For the first half of the match, which took place on the fifth day of the training camp in Spain, head coach Stanislav Cherchesov opted for a team of Bogdán - Botka, Knoester, S. Mmaee, Civic - Esiti, Laidouni - Traoré, Zachariassen, Auzqui - R. Mmaee. Endre Botka wore the captain's armband.

First half

Our first chance could have come from Eldar Civic's cross in the 2nd minute, but Augsburg saved and we couldn't threaten from the corner kick. Seven minutes later, Kristoffer Zachariassen was on the end of Civic's cross, but was stopped by the rising flag for a foul. In the 14th minute, Augsburg striker Florian Niederlechner fired a shot on goal, but Ádám Bogdán saved. After another two minutes, Zachariassen's header was cleared off the crossbar.

After a few uneventful minutes, Kristoffer Zachariassen shooted again in the 27th minute after a well worked out move, it was turned into a corner, but we could not threaten from it. Five minutes later, Samy Mmaee headed in from a corner kick, but the German goalkeeper did not have to save. Shortly afterwards Aissa Laidouni tried a long-range effort and the German team had another chance in the closing stages of the half. In terms of chances we would have won the first half, but football is played on goal and we went into the break with the score 0-0.

Second half

At the break Stanislav Cherchesov made a "line change" and we started the second 45 minutes with Bogdán - Wingo, Besic, Kovacevic, Pászka - Vécsei, Sigér - Halmai, Mercier, Kharaishvili - Marquinhos. The captain's armband was given to Bálint Vécsei. Our first chance came after a pass from Dávid Sigér to Ádám Halmai, who spent the autumn season at Soroksár and scored seven times there, Halmai showed himself now with a header. Soon after, Bálint Vécsei also launched an attempt, but the ball missed the target.

After an hour of play, Augsburg had a serious chance to score, Berisha received a free ball about five yards from goal, but he bombed over the top. In response, we took the lead: Marquinhos passed the ball to Xavier Mercier, who fired into the net (0-1).

In the 68th minute, Dávid Sigér shot at goal, but the ball rolled past the goal line. What didn't happen then, happened in the 75th minute, when after Ádám Halmai's pass, the Augsburg defence was shaken, Xavier Mercier scored his second goal for FTC and his second goal (0-2) of the match. Shortly afterwards Augsburg tried to score, but the shot went over the top. After that, our trialist Bonsu Osei also came on the pitch. Bogdán had to make a save in the injury time, but the result remained the same.
