Our women's handball team has been playing in increasingly better form over the past few weeks. They continued their season with a league match against MTK on Wednesday, and we hoped their performance would continue to show an upward trend. Even before throw-off, we were delighted to see that Gréta Márton was back in the match squad, while Katrin Klujber was given a rest this time.

The team started strongly, much in the way Jesper Jensen would hope for before any such league game: the defense was dynamic, Blanka Böde-Bíró made excellent saves once again, and the finishing up front was precise. At the beginning of the preparation period, the two sides met in a three-times-twenty-five-minute match where the blue-and-whites did a good job of disrupting the rhythm of our game, but we were glad to see something completely different happening on the court this time. In the build-up, Réka Bordás mentioned that this time would be different and that they were coming into the match well-prepared, which was entirely backed up by the first half.

After five minutes, we were leading 3-0, and the gap continued to grow. Aside from a few isolated periods, the spectators on site and those following the match live on Fradi Media YouTube+ could be particularly satisfied (note: the full sixty minutes can be rewatched on the platform). The visitors' coach, Dr. Péter Woth, called a timeout as early as the eleventh minute when we were leading 9-3, but this didn't bring any changes either. Gréta Márton came onto the court in the nineteenth minute, which in itself earned a massive round of applause. Shortly after, she scored a goal, receiving the loudest ovation of the match. With this, we pulled away to an eight-goal lead (14-6), later extending it to ten, and by halftime, our advantage stood at nine (19-10).

After the break, the tempo dropped; MTK tried to slow the game down, and during this period, they were more successful in achieving what they wanted. The difference fluctuated around ten goals, while Jesper Jensen was seemingly no longer just thinking about this match. Vivien Dancsák came on to give Angela Malestein a rest, Anna Szeibert also got an opportunity—our young back immediately scored a goal—and we saw numerous other variations as well. Taking advantage of this toward the final stretch, MTK temporarily made the scoreline look a bit more flattering, but we more or less got what we expected from this league match: we kept the two points at home, and the overall picture of the game was encouraging.
