Between two Champions League matches, a domestic league fixture awaited our women's handball team, who visited the National Handball Academy (NEKA) in Balatonboglár on Wednesday. As previously reported, Gréta Márton and Bítia Balázs were missing from the squad due to injury, while Emily Vogel and Elizabeth Omoregie were rested for the midweek clash.

In the opening minutes, NEKA—fielding a squad with a very young average age again this year—managed to keep the score tight. However, as soon as we put together a few good defensive stops and steals, the difference became visible on the scoreboard: just over ten minutes into the game, we were already leading by four thanks to Michala Möller's goal (4-8).

There could be no complaints about our team's performance as the game progressed. In the first half, nine of our eleven outfield players found the back of the net, while the gap between the two sides steadily widened. The eleven-goal halftime lead was established by Anna Szeibert's backcourt shot just one second before the buzzer (12-23).

After the break, our lead grew at a slightly slower pace than in the closing stages of the first half, though there was certainly no shortage of beautiful plays. Katrin Klujber, for instance, confidently converted her chances not only from the backcourt but also from the wing. We entered the final ten minutes with a fifteen-goal advantage, meaning our large-margin victory was never in any danger (19-34). The match ended in a 39-22 Fradi success, securing our women's handball team a second confident league victory of the season.

An important task awaits our women's handball team this weekend as well: on Saturday at 4:00 PM, they will host Krim Ljubljana in the first home CL match of the season at the Érd Aréna.
