This Thursday, Fradi played its first game in the playoffs of the 2018/19 season against Vienna Capitals.
Our team took a more offensive approach, it was obvious from the first moment on the ice that it will not be easy to beat the Capitals.
We’ve had wonderful opportunities, but the defense of Vienna was strong and able to stop our quick attacks. In the 11th minute, we took the lead. Tóth Adrián scored the goal with the assist of Rafaj. The goal gave us even more motivation and we increased the pace. In the 17th minute, we had the power play, but we couldn’t benefit from it and left the ice with a 1-0 lead in the break.
We were dominant in the second period too. We were trying very hard to secure the game, but the skaters of Vienna did everything to stop us. We’ve had some nice, almost successful shots. In the 29th minute, our hard work paid off and we scored our second goal. Walls scored with the assist of Pavuk.
In the third period, we had lots of good opportunities and absolutely dominated the ice. Nagy Gergő and Walls got through the defense and aimed at the net multiple times. Pavuk and Rafaj both got close to remove their gloves and fight the opponents, but the referees intervened. In the 50th minute, the tension was much too big to avoid a fight and Armin Preiser of the Capitals and Pavuk of FTC dropped their gloves and started the fight which we won.
We won the game 2-0 and secured a 1-0 lead against the Vienna Capitals after the first round.
