The games of the Final 8 are never easy. Ferencváros faced Jug Dubrovnik, the four-time Champions League winner.
The game started out promising for us, just after 2 minutes we had a 3 goal lead, but after this fast and auspicious opening, Jug scored 3 goals and was very close to taking the lead. Vámos Márton shot an important goal and Vogel Soma was once again amazing in the net. The score was 5-3 before the break.
In the 2nd quarter our motivation and performance stayed the same despite all the questionable decisions that the referee had made.
We were able to score more goals and have a 4-goal advantage before the end of the period.
During the 3rd part of the game, both teams were fighting for the victory, Jug had some important goals, but we always responded and the scoreline showed that too: we went for the break with a 4-goal advantage (10-6).
The final quarter of the game started out with two Jug goals. Luck was not on our side during these minutes. The score was 10-9, but we kept on fighting hard and ended up winning.
With this victory we entered the Champions League semi-finals. Ferencváros will be playing for a medal in Hanover for sure!
