Ben Romdhane, the “Tunisian Ambassador”
We talked with our new player, thanks to whom thousands of Tunisian supporters started to follow Fradi.

Our newcomer Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane, who has won the Confederation of African Football Champions League, is getting more integrated into our team. He not only receives support on the pitch from the staff and his team members, but tens of thousands support Ferencváros and him from his homeland. We have made an interview with him after our home match against Shamrock Rovers in the UEFA Europa Conference League qualifiers which ended 4-0. He would like to follow in the footsteps of his fellow countryman Aissa Laidouni.

Our club announced your transfer a month ago, how do you feel yourself in Fradi?
- I feel very good, everybody warmly welcomed me, the management, the staff, the teammates and the supporters as well, I’m getting more and more integrated.

With whom are you the closest in the team?
- To tell the truth, I try to get to know everyone, and this went very well so far with every member of the team. Of course, it is easier for me to get to know and talk to Adama, Mohamed, Samy and Toki because of the language.

You speak French and Arabic, who helps in translating the tactics and the orders?
- Samy helps me a lot, but the others are also very helpful. Football is still an international language, we always understand each other on the pitch.

How do you like Népliget and the capital?
- I didn’t have much time to get to see the city well, but what I’ve experienced so far was a pleasant surprise. I can’t wait to explore Budapest more, and I will take the opportunity if I have the time.

How was the atmosphere and the supporters in the stadium?
- Against Klaksvík we have faced a painful defeat, because we really hoped to get to the last stage of the UEFA Champions League. Their presence in the arena is a huge boost for us.

Was it hard to live through being eliminated from the UEFA Champions League?
- Yes, it was truly painful. A huge disappointment.

Did you experience anything similar in Tunisia? You also played in one of the country’s biggest clubs (Espérance Tunis), I guess there were also unexpected defeats?
- Yes, I managed to survive painful defeats with hope, but in a big club you cannot dwell on this for long, you need to get back to work, to face new challenges.

After the elimination there has been a change in the position of the head coach. What kind of a head coach is Csaba Máté?
- We players need to adapt to this change, and we always try to help the coach accomplish his ideas.

Do you know how many Tunisian supporters have liked the Facebook page of Ferencváros? 20 thousand, we could almost fill the Groupama Arena. Before, many started to follow the club because of Aissa Laidouni, but since you came their numbers have multiplied. How is your relationship with the supporters in general?
- Aissa had a lot of fans even before I came! Tunisian supporters really like football, and I got great support when I signed here. I’ll do everything for them to be happy and proud of me.

What is your message to the Tunisian supporters who started to follow our club?
- Thank you for supporting me here as well. We’ll have a great season, and I’ll be their ambassador/representative here.

Aissa Laidouni recently said that you are a top player, and you’ll become one of the favourites of the fans. What do you think of this? What advice did he give to you when you came here?
- Aissa is a great player, and his career is also spectacular. What he said about me touches me deeply, and it pushes me to live up to his words. He told me good things about the club and the supporters, and I will be very grateful to him.

What do you think of the match against Shamrock Rovers?
- We had a great victory, but there is still the second leg, where we have to perform well also, but I’m glad the season has started. The best is yet to come!
